iPad - Your opinions please
Any fans for the new apple toy ? Anyone planning to get it ?
Its a pity that the entry level models don't have 3G |
My first opinion - the name has got to go! Seriously, a woman was not involved in picking that name or they would have laughed it away right then and there. :)

lol @ Lynne.
Im so going to get that thing! |
I'd love to see the commercial of the ipad commercials when it hits our tv screens. I envision (think baywatch slow motion scene) of a woman running across the beach taking long strides clutching her ipad.

I hear it surfs the web and stops the bleeding, how much better can it get?
Seriously though I think it's total junk, and could very well be the flop Apple's been seeking for the past 10 or so years, hopefully they don't have much wrapped up in this because short of the "apple fan boys" I don't see this overtaking the netbook market like it aims to. It's like a giant iPhone without a camera, and voice capabilities, it can't multi-task, it still only has 4 icon rows despite the larger screen, uses an archaic little used sim card, the outter rim (bezel?) is HUGE, and rather cumbersome, no flash support still, and it still relys on the closed development app system of the App Store. To top that off I hear you have to have an adapter just for USB or anything else. |
Microsofts touch screen tablet will bury this. Why? Because you can run your current software you have on your pc and take your work with you.
And do everything the iPad does. |
I don't know any of the details but it just looks like a huge iphone to me and how are you supposed to really hold it while doing stuff?
|
Giant iPod Touch + 3G Radio = iPad
|
unnecessary
|
I think its completely pointless...
I see no actual use for the iPad (And their naming sense for it is horrible, honestly). If I wanted something that big and bulky, I'd buy one of the higher end netbooks, have a bit more weight, and much more capabilities. |
I think it will be a success but not close to the iPod or iPhone -- but still, it will sell at a brisk pace initially. If a ton of "killer" apps come out for it, I see the pace picking up.

Apple does these minor upgrades. Wait, the iPad will get better or buy a Tablet PC.

Just another gimiky toy which people will soon tire from. I'm not a fan of apple products, probably why I seldom use my iphone 3g and reverted back to my 10 year old samsung mobile.

here is the real ipad http://amygrindhouse.com/wp-content/...Maxi-Pad-3.jpg

I have read an article on MSNBC that Apple already has a new updated iPad.
link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35901355 Wait another year for the iPad to improve. The iPad will get better. [Edit]: whoops! I guess they took down that article fast! lol |

My opinion is:

I got mine on Saturday morning and after playing with it ever since, this morning was the first time I had to put it on the charger, the battery life is really something on that thing. Overall I think it's a great unit, web browsing is a very pleasant experience with it's nice bright back lit screen. My only real complaint is the apple store, when you browse apps it no longer allows you to sort by "Free" in the categories mode. They've deliberately crippled it to boost sales from the looks of it, searching out free apps is tedious at best.

I got one... it replaced my nook as an e-reader. Only downside is lower battery life
|
Although it is marketed, among other uses, as an E-Reader, it simply just isn't.
The main reason why it is never usefull as an E-Reader other then for some short reading is the screen. A "real" E-Reader has a screen that uses Electronic Paper. Difference with a regular screen like used on the I-Pad: - No light or radiation emitting. This makes it possible to read a long time without irritated eyes or headaches and such. - Only uses battery when building a page on screen. Once the page is on screen, no more power is used. Because of this battery power is only comsumed when turning pages, not while reading giving it a very long battery life. It is not uncommon to be able to read 7.000 pages on a single battery charge. - Once the page is build, it is not refreshed all the time like with a conventional display. Again easier for the eyes and battery. But i think Apple is breaking their heads on how to make this device sound usefull and better then any other tablet PC that is already on the market for a long time. PS I do have experience with real E-Readers as i use them on a regular bases. |
