Moderator Advanced Permissions

1 Attachment(s)
vb4 version here

This mod add 2 new permissions to moderator options:
  • Permission to move threads, when threads management disabled. For example, you don't wish to allow moderators edit posts, but wish to allow them move threads.
  • Permission to edit sticky threads. The same reason. Useful for FAQ.
I don't know, if this mod will be useful in your case. IMHO, strict limitations allows to minimise harm, that can be caused by unexperienced stuff.

How to install
  1. Upload file from appropriate folder
  2. Import product XML
  3. Go to moderators list (ACP), and change options.
This mode is developped here http://github.com/rcdesign/vb-mod_advanced_permissions . Patches are welcome.

caps please

Yes! Thank you so much!

This will save me so much work. Every day.

Please consider to add functionality to let moderators:
- change prefix inline
- delete multiple threads inline
- stick threads
- unstick threads

Please add inline moving functionality. Currently its only possible for mods to move threads one by one.

Alfa1, you'd better hire someone to implement features, that your project needs. I'm sorry, but mods for my project are planned for next couple of years - no time to acceps additional requests. Only if those are really valueable for my project.

I did the most, that could be done in this situation:

- removed copyright restriction for most of my works
- provided way to collaborate work (github, see my signature)

Yes, I will hire someone to do so. But currently I am much in limbo whether to wait until vb4.x becomes usable platform or to build upon 3.8. There is so many improvements / modifications to code...

This seems great,
I understood that with this mod moderators will be able to move threads even if they don't have moderator permissions on the form where the thread is located nor the forum that need to move thread to, right ?

but what do you mean by 3rd step : Go to moderators list (ACP), and change options ?
would you please post image of the ACP option ?

Thanks,,

Yes. You can disable "manage threads" permission, if you don't like moderators to split & merge threads. But with this mod you can allow them still move threads.

Th same with threads edit - you can disable it, but allow to edit pinned threads, where FAQ's are placed.

Each moderator has permissions for assigned forums. Open that page, and you will see 2 new options.

I just know what it's mean,
but I thought I will be able to give all moderators the move permission on all forums without assigning them to all the forums ?!

Can you do this ?

Thanks,,

It's good,but I would like to see a screenshot.

Can you program a usergroup permission to edit users titles ?
- I want to give moderators ability to change titles of normal users.
I use users' title to give them awards there (image and special title), users themselves can not edit their titles.

Thanks,,
