VSa - Advanced 'New Posts' (AJAX)
 

Info:
This hack will show how many new posts/threads have been posted in forums since your 'last visit'. New posts are checked via AJAX, manually or in defined time interval. Optionally you can enable and configure Smart Search Menu to give users ability to search individual forum sections. View screenshots...

Installation:
Import product XML: AdminCP > Plugin System > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product]

To set options:
Go to: AdminCP > vBulletin Options > VSa - Advanced 'New Posts'

can you allow post preview on new threads/posts... like on ere..
alow the users to view the post content... the vb4 got a stupid feature that only allow you to read the thread title and nothing more...

Installed but it's not showing. I see New Post: on the nave bar with no lime color number. Using 4.0.1 vb :)

Great hack! Would you consider as a possible future option that, instead of refreshing the count on click, it would jump to the Newposts page?

the mod smart menu does not retreive posts from individual forums, it shows you all new posts which vbulletin have already

Inactive, private, and [can't view] forums are automatically excluded.

Be noted that all users may not see what you are able to.
This is possible but 'New Posts' is always linked to that page. :-)

We should leave counts to check for new posts when clicked.

what would be better though is having "New Posts In" replace "New Posts", because "New Posts" contains a link for all new posts anyway

i think it's because of UTF-8! and i have to make the Mod support UTF-8!
if this is the problem how can i do it, because am using Mac, and i donno how to do that :) .. but i know how to do it in Windows by Notepad++ software!

so could you please if that possible to make this Mod. support UTF-8 charset? to give this a try!
because Ajax still not fully supported arabic!

Nicely done. Except for one thing, and that is that, in my forums at least (see www.theparacast.com/forum as an example), you can't just click on the number to see the new posts and threads, only the label New Posts . This is a mite counterintuitive, particularly for less-skilled users. If this isn't the way it was supposed to work, let me know. Otherwise, I'd recommend it as a fix.

When i check new post mod write that i have new post's

when i click 'mark as read' then everything is ok. This situation is always a place where I will read the posts after you click on new posts. It seems that the modification does not refresh the data.

I have the suite too and I am not getting that.

I have the same situation. I have zero unread posts now, but the mod text is still showing 54 unread in 17 threads.

you need to click "mark forums as read" at the bottom of your forum home page to reset it to 0

the error went away the i uninstaled the mod. and came again when i uploaded it again

I know, but that's counterintuitive. They already are read, so I'm having to use that function to fix a count issue with another info display. That's not something I want to have to train members to have to do.

This is affecting the whos online on the forum. It is also affecting the who is viewing thread feature. In the whos online, when it is enabled it shows everyone viewing board index. On the who is viewing thread it does not show who is viewing the thread. I tested this with my moderators. We all parked on a thread and I turned this on and the display changed from all three of us to just me. Their view was similar.

Excellent mod. It would be awesome to have an option to also show new blog posts, new group messages, as it does with new posts.

Any word on whether this bug will be fixed in a future release?
