There is a premium mod of icart for vB by vbcover.com
Many features and very good support.

After purchasing from vbcover.com; I definitely do not recommend the vbcart at vbcover.com... especially if you use several different usergroups. It removes users from their existing usergroups once a purchase is made. I've questioned the developer about it and evidently this is written into the code and would require a "complete re-write (around $500.00)" to have done.

This is totally incorrect. It adds a secondary usergroup and does not affect the primary.

It seems the vbcover.com cart is only suitable for downloadable sales?

I am also looking for a full shop / cart system that can use the VB4 shell,
user accounts etc, and that handles at least PayPal, different tax zones
and currencies.

Does anyone know of any?

You are right. Only downloads.
But I will be coming up with iShop, an ajax based cart for shippable items only... no idea when as I am very busy :-(

I just sent them an email about other products vbcover offers ...

Two quick questions:

1. Has anyone else got any experience (good or bad) dealing with these folks?

2. I note that they say a requirement is "Ioncube decoder installed on your server". Is this the same product we've used before that encrypts code? If so, it was a nightmare to use on vBClassifieds (now gone).

Tomorrow I'll release for FREE, a fully featured shopping cart. I wrote it for my own use, as I didn't liked what I bought till now. Currently supports only downloadable products, but till the middle of September it will supports tangible products too. PayPal and 2CO payment gateways already including.
