AME'fy - Videos on your profile pages
 

This add on for AME3 will allow you to spruce the hell out of your member profiles by telling AME3 to parse your members custom profile fields for videos.

• You can place videos in 6 different positions in the sidebar
• You can place videos in tabs
• You can have more than one video in spot
• You can randomly select a video to show (by assigning a couple profile fields to a position and choosing the 'random' option)

Note that AMEFY parses pre-set custom profile fields. It requires at urls are stored in a custom profile field. AMEFY will not create the custom field(s) for you. I recommend using a textbox and setting the field to private so it doesnt display the text when people view their profile.

Install: The same as AME really. Upload the contents to forums and import the includes/xml/product-amefy.xml

Quickstart

1. Install
2. Create one or more Custom Profile Fields to hold the video URL(s).
3. Broswe to your AME CP in your Admin CP. There will be a new option called AMEFY. Click it.
4. Click Add New
5. Enter the settings (pretty self explanatory).
6. Edit your profile and enter one or more links into the custom profile field(s) you created and save.
7. Go behold the beauty of your profile.

Quickfacts

• You can have multiple links in a custom profile field. Just make sure that you make the profile field large enough to house a lot of text (multiple line textboxes are good for this)
• You can display a random video a couple of ways. Either have multiple profile fields assigned to an AMEFY entry or create a multi line textbox and allow users to enter multiple URLs. AMEFY can then randomly select one of those they entered when their profile is viewed.

Here is an example of how to create and set up a single AMEFY. First shot is a screenie of the custom profile field, the second is of me setting it up in AMEFY.

can i make it only to parse certain video site link

Out of the box it will parse all of the sites that your vB4 and/or AME3 will. Saying that, just use the Regular Expression setting of the profile field (i.e. enter 'youtube' into the value to only have youtube URLs in there).

Not sure what you mean. You mean it doesn't seem like AMEFY is saving the entry? Can you attache a screenshot of the entry?

Ive been complaining about this for a month now. we should be rating these products on there abilities to do as described not weather we like the author or dont care for the product. Either way i see the legitimate members have rated it back up. good work and is working perfectly. Installed, rated and nominated.

I'm saying there is no link in my admin CP... The admin amefy.php file, where is the link supposed to show? I've uploaded the file and refreshed the ACP but I can't find the link

I occasionally click the buttons too fast and automatically click the left most icon thinking it's the highest in rank, only to realize after I've submitted that's it non-linear. But I sear, it wasn't me....this time... >_>

This Mod is dependent on AME3 to work.. Have you installed that hack on your forum yet? There wont be any setting in your ACP until you install AME3

If it is installed, check the last option in the AME CP menu. Thats where you will find the link to AME'fy CP

FWIW, I just uploaded version 1.0.1

This is a heavy rework of the base code to make it much more lean and mean. Since its such an overhaul, I left version 1.0.0 up just in case - however I really can't see the need for it.

The new code base is much more slick and fast. It also ensures users aren't presented with [video] tags after saving. IMO, much cleaner. Also added a bit more text in the settings area to try and guide you.

Anyhoo, looking forward to your feedback. Personally Im pretty chuffed with how this turned out. Its not just a simple 'stick a video here' mod. You can get pretty creative with it. Will be interesting what we will see when AME3 definitions start to come out :D

Hopefully there will be some updated AME definitions soon so people can use this to post a music playlist to their profile.

I've been looking for a good playlist to do a definition for, but haven't found a decent one yet. Most of Playlist.com is no good outside the US (and it can't really be done with vB4 anyway :( ). Looked up imeem, but thats now myspace and I can't be arsed to set up an account just to do a definition. If you guys have some suggestions, what I need is:

A few URLs as an example of what the user would paste into thier message/profile field
An example of the embed code.

Then Ill sort something out :D

Currently, I've got playlists working for Jiwa's music player and their playlists which I'm about to release here in a few days for 2.5. I'll send you some links and the definitions if you'd like. i see two xml files.
what is to import in VB4 ?
after this i must upload the other files via ftp?
but this operation do not compromise the modifcatione that i've done to activate correctly ame3 deleteing the file in xml how in istructions has wrote?

Use the 1-0-1 package. Unzip and upload the contents of the upload_into_forums folder into your forums.
The product file to import is includes/xml/product-amefy.xml
If AME3 is installed and functional, nothing more to do other than configure it. The link to AMEFY will be in your AME CP menu.


Thanks :) I am really chuffed with how this one turned out. Especially the ease in which you can display random entries. Makes user profiles seem more dynamic.

Its easier to do the definitions because its more cut and dry. With AME2x you could make almost any site work, however because vB4 is rendering the video with AME3 you can either easily do it, or just plain not :)

in AME3 there aren't parameters, its 'code'.
There is 1 regex to pull the code from the URL or match the URL if you are going to scrape (extract)
There is 1 optional regex to scrape the destination site for the code
The embed code takes 1 parameter: {vb:raw code}

hmm. Don't think so. Looks like there are no AME'fy entries. Ill put in a catch for that, but the error should go away as soon as you have at least 1 entry. Let me know either way.
