Got spammed 50 porn messages on my kid's forum
Got a couple bots that spammed all these porn images on my kid's forums. The users were going crazy (they were disgusted)
What are some mods that I can use to combat this? |
Get check4spam, ISBOT and vbstopforumspam.
Create a usergroup for members with more than a few post or more than a few reputation points. Then restrict the permissions of your 'registered user' usergroup in many ways. |
I just installed DnP Firewall. It looks great but I hate the template at the beginning. How can I just delete it? https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...highlight=spam

Sorry for being a little rude, but can someone confirm what btks said about DnP Firewall since he only has 3 posts? (But yeah Id really like to uninstall that thing)
|
DnP is not related to spam protection at all, but merely an attempt to counter DoS attacks.
check4spam works extremely well, but the coder has abandoned it. You will need to get it from someone that has it installed. Is Bot: Registration Time Check vbStopForumSpam Also install this: vMail - Verify Mail before registration. EZ Bounced Email Management for Admins |
I dont know any1 who does. Maybe any1 here?

imo u are victim of a raid close registration for a week raiders will get bored and move to other site

We use the auto promotion feature - every new member goes into the COPPA usergroup, and are automatically moderated. We can manually approve people or they get moderated after both a certain post count and time spent on the board.
Upside - users don't see spam, trolls, stalkers, etc. Downside - somewhat offputting to new members, a bit extra work. We reckon the benefits outweigh the issues. Rapscallion |
Vbulletin supports the free anti spam service from typepad http://antispam.typepad.com/ . It works great on my forums.

Most spam modifications you use will block, or attempt to block, automated registrations and/or posts that come under specified parameters. Depending on your circumstance, you'll want something like this installed for it's convince. I use NoSpam! to prevent automated registrations.
But if your site was singled out by these nimrods who just like pushing people's buttons and seeing them freak out, your best bet, at least in my experience, is simple diligence. They get great pleasure out of seeing you and your members reaction to their nonsense. If you stay alert, delete they're posts and the accounts posing them as quick as you can and without comment, they'll tire quickly. There's no point in putting in all that effort to drive you crazy, if all you're going to do is undo everything they've done. |
