Display Unread Posts
As of 23 Nov 2017 this modification has been withdrawn.
This displays the actual number of posts that are still considered unread by you (and will show up in a 'getnew' search). There is also an option to put back the members last visit date, which was removed in vb4. There is the choice to count the unread posts since your last visit, or all posts considered unread. This setting reflects where the divider in the 'getnew' search display used to be (apparently its no longer displayed). There is also the option to disable the unread posts display or the new reputation comments display. New Reputation Comments are shown in the Notifications section. This modifications settings are located in vBulletin Options > Display Unread Posts[/COLOR]. The unread posts functionality requires that database thread marking is active. Please be aware that installing this will enable that system (with automatic forum marking). Forum marking choices are located in vBulletin Options > General Settings > Thread/Forum Read Marking Type To install this hack unzip the xml file and import it using the ACP Product Manager. Yea Thank You! Installed
|
It would be nice if possible to hook the location and add the Unread Posts (xxx) like the template edited to the admin/mod on the header. Another words have it add Unread Post (xxx) next to the notifications instead of using it.
|
Thank you Paul M. Installed.

I have tried all setting and it seems it isn't displaying it. I tried all three options and no notification, but when I click what's new it shows new posts.
|
Did you do the template edit ?
|
OOps I had a blonde moment and overlooked it.
|
I overlooked how it was going to look as well. Is there a way to add Unread Post (xxx unread posts) as a link sitting next to notifications and remove the rest of the time etc.....

So happy to see this. This was the #1 thing my members were asking to bring back. Thanks!
|
Thanks Paul Working :)
|
This would look cleaner and I wouldn't mind doing a heavier template edit to get this if you can code it.
Welcome, username - Notifications - Unread Posts & Reputation (insert number here) - My Profile - Settings - Log Out - Admin - Mod |
Actually, I played about with it on that line, and didnt like it.
It would require a (different) template edit, and changed code, so it isnt going to happen atm. I may provide it as an option in the future, but for the moment i have other mods to upgrade. |
Sweet! Thanks Paul!

Logged in this morning and it said no unread post but there was plenty.
|
Thank you Paul, my users have been asking for this.
|
Looks like I messed something up.
Edit: Oops, my mistake |
Possibly, did you upgrade from an older version ?
|
I modified the header and your template edit. :o
|
So glad to see this on vb4
Thank you Paul |
I am running 4.0.0 gold but yet when importing it said i was running 4.0.0 release candidate 2
? Why is that? |
This mod does not display what vb version you are running, maybe that was a vb message.
|
Paul, Im getting a few members reporting this:
Invalid Announcement specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator this only occurs when members click on the "unread posts", if they click the actual announcement in the forums, its ok. |
Paul: Can you tell me whether it is possible to adjust where contents of this mod display? Ideally I would like to customise the location -- i.e. not have it as a second line of text beneath the header links. Can this be done? Is it simply a variable I can move about in the templates?
|
You could try moving the phrase code, but I cant say what will happen, it designed to be where it is.

You have reminded me however that the link does need updating for content type on vB 4, maybe its related to that. |
Thank you very much- just what I needed!
|
Thank god for this Paul. I love you. :D
|
I just found that clicking on "You Have No Unread Posts" gives this error:
http://www.domain.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew[ARG:2%20UNDEFINED] |

Is it possible to make the "You have X Unread posts" clickable? so that it shows you all your unread posts? If so , how?
