iTrader version 2.5.0, new generation now released
 

As announced last month, here we are today with the launch of the next generation of iTrader, version 2.5.0.

The tradition continue, we're proud to announce that vbEnhancer is now the official host of iTrader, with a new structure, more addons and a cleaner code for the future versions.

This is just an update, because for 2.5.0 we were focussing in centralizing all the existing addons for the old 2.1 version, and we made it clear that it would be easier with a smooth update for the existing clients and an easy spleen for the new players.

So, what do we get in the box?

All the files are now cleaned and easier to debug, here is the setting page in the vBulletin Options:

• Gio~logist's Main Page is now integrated fully
• A new Profile Tab
• Completely and only compatible with vBulletin 3.8 generation
• Refurbished templates, with new icons for ranking (positive, negative, neutral)
• Option in your Profile Settings so you can show that you are selling/buying something
• Force display of iTrader infos in specific forums
• Display of iTrader Feedback Score in postbit

The thumbnail attached shows the extensive list of settings you can manage thru the regular path. as you can see, some new features have settings in the bottom of that page, they are good to look at.

And here is the form you see when you submit a new feedback regarding one of the transaction you've been involved in.

You want to upgrade, or install as new?

Easy, if you have not used any of the addons released on vBulletin.org, you simply have to upload all the new files, overwriting the old ones, and uploadthe product file, allow overwriting the product, so it upgrade to the latest.

If you have used any addon that required template edits, like the old version of Giologist Profile block or his Main Page, or if you used MagnetiCat's Profile Tab, you will need to uninstall these first, and hopefully, we provide all these versions in the Jason's iTrader Archive forum on top of this... (just follow the opposite of the instructions!)

So, that's it... there is not much new instructions, as now the entire engine is self documented... you can always post a question in this forum, so you are answered as soon as needed... but also, what's fun, is that we ask for your requests, suggestions, needs; because we want to make the engine even better for the next version, which will jump to number 3.0 ...

Installed, but having a few issues.

When I try to view someones "feedback" under their profile, I get this "The iTrader system is currently closed."

Also, the iTrader rating does not show up by the persons user name.

No, how do I go about doing that?

and edit each usergroup, the default settings are global.

When I disable vbAdvanced it works. What can I do?

I started updating it, but it will still spend a few weeks. I think that I am going to sell it afterwards. :o

so you plan on breaking it's license, then?... sorry but i can not permit it. It is released for free, always was, always be.

i gave you "permission" to update it and release it if you wanted, but i do not accept a change of license. i'm still the license holder, if you do not know what it means. this piece of software is not a GPL gadget.

my entire approval on the release as it is -- not "i give you over the copyright and it's license"... that are two different things. this engine was free, always accessible as is, and i'm sure someone would complain if one day it is paid just for an update to 4.0, which even not add any new feature. if by example you add what we had planned for the iTrader 3.0: http://vbenhancer.com/itrader-compli...neration/4732/ ... maybe we will be able to reconsider a give-over... but right now, i don't think it's your goal.

having used this as a major addon for my site im sorry you wont be updating it because of the inability of you and the staff of vb.com/org to get along. maybe i can find someone to update it for me

who said it was because of the staff here?... the only reason why i do not update to 4.0 is that because i have no free time to do so. this release is free, so i can't get profits from the work i put on, and as so, if i upgrade it to 4.0 i would have to support two versions, too much time when i can't dedicate my work on it. if someone is willing to update it to 4.0, like "entertain" with a free release of that version, i have no problem with that... though i would not permit to see a paid version of it, as it's against the license, and it's against the goal of this release... any paid coder can do a custom version of it in private though.

also, as a note, i have 4 kids to feed, so i have other jobs to perform to make it so... free time to support free releases is scattered.

having followed the events here and your site, im not blind to the reason. i appreciate the mod and its features. i am also the father of 4 and know all too well the time it takes, im just not buying that reason personally. i wont respond anymore, all i will say is thank you for the time and effort over the years for this mod. it is appreciated.

This is severely broken and won't install 3.8.4 with vbadvanced..... uninstall !!!!!!!

severly broken?... you're the first in 540 installs in the last year to name it "severe"... but i will take your words.

btw, vbadvanced is not a default feature of vBulletin if i mind, so if something goes wrong with it, not my problem... i fixed it with the older version, but hey, the guy never stop changing his code, i am not to follow all his changes, i try to make it fit for vBulletin itself and this is already good.

That is complete nonsense. We have nothing to do with whether this mod is updated. Please try not to invent issues that do not exist.

No, and if you read the rest of the thread and the links provided you will get very in-depth reasons as to why this is the case.

It is a shame, however I can completely understand the reasons.

I'll hesitantly end up using the "Reputation" feature of vBulletin in place of iTrader for 4.0. I'd suggest anyone else looking at upgrading to 4.0 to start looking seriously into switching to Reputation now.

Sucks, but I'm unaware of anything that will provide the same sort of functionality.

it would be more positive from anybody's point of view that you stop suggesting things like this and make the opposite, make a move to make me update the product to 4.0... that's not the kind of attitude that would actually tease me to do so...

vbenhancer are you planning to publish itrader for vb4.

i know that when i go live with vb4 a lot of people who lost there trades would be angry that they lost agane there trade points.

Hello, I'm having a slight problem, when you click to give feedback you get an internal server, and the feedback scores are taking place of Visitor Messaging on user profiles. I would like to see this debugged if possible, thank you (:
