PL9-Quote
CANCELED: I have sold my licenses and will no longer release addons for vBulletin. I have found a new forum software that is currently in alpha testing. I plan to use it and convert all addons to it. Thank you all for your support and use of my addons. Sorry if I did not deliver exactly what you all wanted but when a great product becomes crappy then I bail before I lose anymore money in it.
Thanks and good luck to you all Steve M |
Wonderful and distinct graet hake .... installed
|
thank u

I'm going to definitely use this one on more than one site! :)

Tagged, nominated, rated...will install asap
Just an idea Iam having one thread where users are posting famous quotes, so if famous quotes which they posted within thread could be displayed in this way .... that would be more than cool by my opinion...where all txt would be a link to original post But even as it is now is great Thanks |
Good idea goxy63, I will look into doing that.
|
This works quite nicely and members can contribute... thank you.
|
thanks it works for vb 4.0?
|
The quotes dont appear on my site, maybe because Im using TMS ?
|
bing11: I am currently updating it to work with vB4.0
Vinyljunky: That is possible, try disabling TMS and see if it works then. |
Quote:
Im afraid thats not feasible as TMS is a core widget for me :o |
Link me to TMS and I will try to get a work around done for it.
|
Very cool, especially letting users contribute. So... how to add this to vba_cmps? :D Love to see it under the navbar there.
|
Noticed you listed a 'future' item as "Rework the display of quotes". Where would we edit the look of it until you change it up?
I was thinking of just having the actual quote and no 'box' or anything on it. Any tips on how to make that happen? I haven't installed it yet, but just making sure that it would work that way. |
I plan to to remove the box and leave an option for users to choose from 4 different displays, one with a custom background, one with the box, no box, and one with quotation marks around it. Right now though, you edit the template bfc_quote:
Find: Code:
class="tcat", class="tborder", class="alt1" or class="alt2" |
Oh, I think that I want the option with the quotation marks (maybe some slightly oversized ones to emphasize it) and then the author's name in bold.
I just installed it and it works perfectly. Now, just have to customize the look of it :) Thanks for this great mod Steve! |
Alright, did some customization by changing the width to 75%, adding the bold around the author name and then adding some custom quotation marks around it. See attachment :)
Not sure if I want to keep the box long term or not, but I'll keep working on it and see what I settle on. Edited: Hmm....kinda like it without the table. See 2nd attachment. I'll keep working with this. I love the mod. Thanks again! |
Very nice, MagicThemeParks, if you could send me those images, I would love to use the quotation images which I'm not even sure they are images. Saves me some time. hehe
|
Steve, PM sent in just a bit
|
Thanks, replied to your PM.

I am currently working on a version that will interact with Template Modification System flawlessly. So far no bugs or errors so I may be releasing v1.5.1.
|
Will this work with vb4.0?
|
asuccar: As stated before, no this will not work with 4.0 as I will have to update this mod. I plan to update this to 4.0 once I have released the new version here in the next few days.
|
Sorry to bug u on this Steve, but any updates?
|
Still updating, added a few new features, not much more left to do before it is finished though.

+++++ Is there anyway to access a quote.php page where all the quotes are together for everyone to see? |
chick,
Steve is already working on those changes and they will be 'built-in' once he gets the update out. I'd wait until his update, this way you don't have to do edits all of the time when upgrading. The images are png so that they show nicely on any background. :) Good idea of the page with all (or a random 25 or something) quotes! |
Steve,
I just got an error when attempting to edit an existing quote.... Quote:
....looks like it had something to do with the use of the apostrophe. I took out the apostrophe marks and the quote was able to be saved. Can you make sure that it gets corrected when you do the next update? :) |
cool, I am watching this thread... thanks so much I like this very much and members can participate in this mod on a site which they seem to really like. Thanks again I await the update. :)
|
Thanks MagicThemeParks, I have seen this error before. I am pushing for an early release but I don't want to put a date as I ran into an issue with the quote box showing where it should.
|
I'm getting an error from the SQL side..
I added a quote and put the quotation's in there. When I previewed on my forumhome, I noticed that I didn't need to as it adds them. So there were double quotes.. So I went to the manage quotes, and tried to remove them. Here's what I got: PHP Code:
|
It is a bug that I have fixed in the new version, I just haven't finished the latest features to release. Been bogged down with a lot but as soon as I can I will get an update released.
|
Sounds good Steve!
We'll be waiting patiently for the update ;) |
As and admin, I cant view quotes or Add quotes :?
And, where can I edit the usergroups who can view quotes? Thanks |
Quote:
admincp >> usergroups >> usergroup manager >> click "go" next to usergroup you'd like to change permissions on Then, scroll down until you find: BFC-Quote Permissions Hope that helps  |

Thanks :) |
Any updates on new version?
|
Sorry no updates as of yet. Its slow going for me right now, unemployed plus night classes plus family = time is rare
|
