As I understand, this mod collects linked images inside posts and save theme locally as attachments.

is there anyway of the images being cached and uploaded to the database and a link returned or the pictures uploaded to the a defined picture album id ? and a link returned ?

Thank you for clearing that up. I see that images are stored as 11750.imgcache.gif where 11750 is the imageID.

Are these linked images stored as attachments in the vbulletin attachment system?
If yes, then under which member account are these attachments stored?

the files get renamed to ([0-9]+).imgcache.. it would be a good idea to keep the file extension.

I'm waiting to see if some improvments will be done like storing the images in the user album (or similar) to test it, but it's a damn must have product for all the CG forums like I'm running!

Is there a way to exclude certain domains' images from being cached? I host my personal images on a separate domain but the domain is hosted on the same dedicated server as my website. No need to duplicate the images into cache.

For instance, .txt .pdf .docx etc?

Also, it would be nice if you could turn this on/off per forum.

Something else that would be good is a small icon or something next to the image link that contained the original link. Sometimes you're linking to something that gets updated so you want to check the source, also you want people to be able to get to the source site for various reasons. Credit for the work, etc.

Does this mod serve the local cached copy of images only when the external link goes down, or does it serve all images from the cache regardless? If it's the latter that would use a TON of server resources very quickly. I would install this in a heartbeat if it's the former though...

Anyone know? Can it be modified to do the former if it doesn't currently?

there are some point in this hack

1- we must not allow the signature from being upload
2- we must protect from duplicate
3- we must make some URL from not being cached

This could be very useful for caching images used when people link via their favorite image hosting site. I'm giving it a try and hope it works.

For everyone having issues with the language or naming of files I'll provide this in hopes of clarifying things. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Extract the files from imgcache.zip
FTP imgcache to your forum root directory and chmod 777
FTP y2kswimgcache.php to your forum root directory
Install the product: imgcache.xml

Note: imgcache.xml and ìŸè 蟬 Ÿé+í©.xml are the same files with different names.

Done.

Uninstalled - doesn't do a thing for my forum.

Would be nice if it had a way of storing them remotely so I do not eat space on my web server and then only pull a cached image when the original changes.
