Show us your custom 4.0 Style

I’m gonna wait to upgrade till everyone figures out the style in 4.0 and skins become available for purchasing. Meanwhile, I’d love to see what everyone is doing to make the style unique

fta2k 11-22-2009 01:59 AM

Well, I'm not done yet but I'm "close" to having it tweaked to the way I want it:

http://i.fhqhosting.com/p2.PNG

http://i.fhqhosting.com/p3.PNG

There are still a lot of things I've got to figure out, but it's getting there.

TandyServices 11-22-2009 01:43 PM

These are looking pretty nice :). Well, I had no choice but to go live, made a couple of styles so far. I'll be adding more, but you can see them at www.chambertheory.com

Sorry to get off topic but what mod are you using for the chatbox? Is it capable to be set to show only to registered members and above?

cabledr 11-22-2009 02:57 PM

Yes it can but i can not release as not my work im afraid

Charlie98902 11-22-2009 02:58 PM

Dang I was really hoping for this mod. Well maybe some coder will make one identical and release it or the original author will?

I'm not the only one to have trouble with a part of vb4, in fta2k's 3rd pic the bit where it shows replies and who posted, time etc are still the default colour, does anyone know where to change this?

Charlie98902 11-22-2009 06:51 PM

I can't change that either.

daveaite 11-23-2009 01:25 AM

Nope, I can not change it either. Hopefully someone reports this glitch. It hasn't been added into stylevars yet or it's not functional. xD

jesus likes pie 11-23-2009 01:29 AM

I believe it's under Common? I'm 99% sure I remember seeing a stylevar for the time.

IsMaR 11-23-2009 02:36 AM

wow you guys are so great that I'll have to try to make my own...

merk_aus 11-23-2009 03:43 AM

Here is mine - I did have the threadhead modified as well however when BETA 4 was released it over wrote it and so I am about to fix it up but feel free to leave feedback...

^^^ Dude is there any chance you can add them as attachments or something as it is bloody rediculous with them being the size you have.

In threadlist.css, you have these lines:

Code:

.threadbit .alt {
    background: #f2f6f8 {vb:stylevar threadbit_background.backgroundImage} {vb:stylevar threadbit_background.backgroundRepeat} {vb:stylevar threadbit_background.backgroundPositionX}{vb:stylevar threadbit_background.backgroundPositionUnits} {vb:stylevar threadbit_background.backgroundPositionY}{vb:stylevar threadbit_background.backgroundPositionUnits};
}

It's hardcoded right now.

is it possible for anyone to make a style that dont look like SMF?
is VB4 really tricky to make normal styles to?
thx

It is just a beta right now so a lot of changes can take place. Until it goes RC or Gold there won't really be a wide range of styles except those that do theirs.

thanks for the info. i'll be happy to upgrade once the smf look goes. well i think.
even to see a default vbulletin 3.8 style for 4.0 would be a dream come true :D
cheers.

Charlie98902 11-23-2009 11:14 AM

I hear some worling on that too making vb4 look like vb3.

EidolonAH 11-23-2009 12:52 PM

I still have tons to do but it is a WIP

http://www.eidolonmh.com/vbskinsxtreme/forum.php

(Yes, it will be made available for download when vB4 goes Gold)

Nice design. If you don't mind I like to make a suggestion to that style and you can see if it will look good to you as I think it would.

Remove the Mark Forums Read | View Forum Leaders in the who's online area put this above or below who's online and still use the same cat style. Does that make sense? What do you think?

Still working on vB forums Beta 4 to get my custom style done, once forums 4 goes Gold I'll upgrade my current 3.8.4PL1 to 4 then work on suite4 on my test site to finish the style for the blogs & cms... besides incorporating the rest of my site into CMS articles... that's gonna be a lot of work. But here's my scheme as it is now on my vB4 forums TEST site... still quite a bit to do:

Eq4bits 11-23-2009 03:21 PM

the 'replies' & 'last reply' *is* in the stylevars but I can't remember which one... of course one of the 'background' ones, it also changes the background in another area as well... whick makes it look fonky... but what's even fonkier is if you use another color for sticky threads... then it's really whacked =S

Charlie98902 11-23-2009 03:30 PM

Sadly right now Eq4bits the color in threads you are referring to are hard coded right no but you can adjust it.

absy 11-24-2009 05:25 PM

Anyone who can tell me how to fix the subforum background please? My main forum page is good now, I know all the stylevar for them, but my subforums are a disaster...I thought it would be in 'common' somewhere but I cant find...anyone help please?

Eq4bits 11-24-2009 05:51 PM

try editing the css files; some of that is hard coded with a stylevar that isn't in the stylevar editing list -yet.

absy 11-24-2009 05:56 PM

ok ty- thought it was me being dumb :)

daveaite 11-24-2009 05:56 PM

How did raistlinthewiz customize his width to be like that for his forum so that he could display a background picture easily. I've been trying to do that but I always mess up some of the dimensions, wierd proportions, any have list of settings to help?

Much appreciated,
Dave

Charlie98902 11-24-2009 05:59 PM

Yea some of these people doing great thing it would be nice to have a styling dictionary for now. This would get people familiar with the whole backend.

You mean to add an entirely separate category frame just for those links! Don't you think it would possibly clutter the style a little too much. I placed those links where they are to attempt to reduce the clutter a little, vB4 is a mess of clutter!

Charlie98902 11-25-2009 11:04 AM

Yes that's what I meant. Well I guess things are just of personal taste. I see what you mean but that category frame (Who's Online) seems kind of cluttered in my personal taste. Don't get me wrong though I love the work done there. I just think it is what's of personal taste. Maybe I am still kid of stuck with the way things are/have been? It was just a ideal or thought to look at.

Sworm 11-26-2009 06:59 PM

I'm not expert,
please anybody want to "translate" vb 4 def style in a vb4 red style and posting here the settings for do this?
