Why do we have to edit the navbar template when global_navbar_below Advertising Template is available?

MikalMirkas 11-21-2009 05:50 PM

Why do we need this when we have Google AdSense integration...

The choice is yours. Either use vbulletin adsense or mine. Does not matter.

The advantage to using the built-in vBulletin options is that you don't have to keep manually editing the code with every upgrade as you will with this mod.

MikesSite 11-23-2009 07:20 PM

Yeah but doesnt vB take a cut of your earnings if you use their adsense? If so then why wouldn't you want to use this?

No they don't, the 'using the default vB Advertising Templates' simply refers to popping your code into a predefined Template that is rendered at a predefined location, saving you from having to reapply this code each and every time you upgrade.

djbaxter 11-23-2009 10:05 PM

Exactly. MikesSite, I don't know where you heard such a ludicrous claim but it's untrue and hopelessly ridiculous.

I actually got into this with a friend of mine the other day. I didnt think they did and he convinced me otherwise. I figured I would ask.

Hopelessly ridiculous? I can think of a lot more things that are "hopelessly ridiculous". Horrible choice of words.

Unfortunately VB-Adsense integration is very primitive and non flexible at this moment. As for me I satisfied VB-Adsense integration on archive pages only.
All other templates caused drops in revenues. So I would prefer to manually change code for Adsense integration.

odonel 12-29-2009 10:54 AM

are you kidding me? this is a mod ? why not just add the google generated script with ID in ad manager ?

abusive...

x626xblack 12-30-2009 12:19 PM

Code:

<div class="breadcrumbcontainer">
<div id="breadcrumb">

Does not exist in my navbar template

Did this change on the Gold release?

The word breadcrumbcontainer is no where in that template

cagbaazee 01-16-2010 03:23 AM

This code is for people who want to put adsense in other places rather than using vB's standard adsense system. How is that abusive?

During the Beta stages of vB4, that code was the code they used at that time. Now that vB4 is Gold, they changed some code and that just happened to be one of the codes changed.

I updated the code now. Have a great day!
