/forums to just .com

How do I make it so when you enter for example: www.myforums.com
for it to go right to www.myforums.com/forums
but still saying just www.myforums.com
So instead of having a main page, the forums load instantly after type in domain!
Thanks!

ChopSuey 11-15-2009 11:35 PM

In your cPanel you can redirect your domain to your forums

Aclikyano 11-16-2009 12:00 AM

ok now any way I can get it to not say /forums on that main index page?
when just the www.myforums.com is type in url bar?
Thanks!

ChopSuey 11-16-2009 12:03 AM

Okay you want to get rid of /forums and make your forum the index page? Sorry.

Aclikyano 11-16-2009 12:41 AM

In FileZilla, select ALL your files in your Forum root. THen just drag them out to public_html then you would have to EDIT your vBulletin settings along with styles and what not. Isn't hard though. i did it too.

Aclikyano 11-16-2009 12:59 AM

what would I have to edit in my styles?
I know in the Vbulletin options what to edit but in styles? hmmm
Thanks alot chops :)

and then in VB Options Site Name / URL / Contact Details
Homepage URL
URL of your home page. This appears at the bottom of every page.
http://www.myforums.com/forums/index.php?

do I just remove the /forums and put
http://www.myforums.com/index.php?

Thanks again! :)

Ok well upon looking through styles I noticed what you are talking about I think,
just any old edit's that must be updated after doing this....
Can you be more specific on what else besides styles will need editing?
I am planning on streamlining my forums to save $ on hosting,
currently has like 10 skins/styles I will be going down to 1 MAYBE 2
and also removing many modifications.

ChopSuey 11-16-2009 04:26 PM

Your styles, URL, any modification settings that have to do with your forum i guess.
If you images dont show correctly you may have to browse in all styles and fix the url's in the Additional CSS.

hi
I am having a very similar issue. I just want it so that when you go to my site: www.mysite.com it goes to the forum, www.mysite.com/forums . You said you can change this in the control panel. What control panel? are you meaning in the admin controls? If so, i cannot find it in there. I've tried doing the .htaccess file thing but it doesnt work. Thanks

In your cPanel, under Domains it says Redirections.

This thread is about vBulletin 3.x, if you have a question regarding vB 4, then please post in the appropriate forum.

ChopSuey 02-01-2010 01:19 PM

If you have the 3.8 files in public_html just overwrite with vB4 files and all will be well, but in index.php find require content.php (bottom of file) and change to forum.php

If its in /forums or /forum i use an index.html redirect to the directory.
