here is a hack that will give your mods more power without having them roam round the Admin Control Panel :)
Mods can now UNBAN as well as BAN users. Mods can now Ban people from specific Forums Mods can now add/remove Smileys to the database Mods can view Forums Stats Mods can edit peoples Usernames * Mods can edit Peoples Signatures * Mods can edit peoples Avitars * Mods can edit BASIC profile information * Mods can give Custom User Titles to a user * Mods can still veiw a persons complete profile Mods can send Password Reminders Mods can now Authorise COPPA users * Mods can now authorise (Awaiting Email Notification) ** Mods can now authorise Unregistered/Not Loggid in users ** * Can only edit registered users ** Using the UNBAN feature To use simply extract all the files into your MOD folder to activate the features :) Please report any Bugs you find this hack works fine on my forums and another that I moderate :) [attachment removed] |
This hack is what I have been waiting for. I'll install it tonight.
Many thanks |
great hack I try it now :)
this just what I'm looking for |
nice...but could you change it so a mod could edit his/her own profile like the title and avatar? So the can use html in it, and not be limited by the normal Title regualtions?
|
Looks like this was a no no? Attachment is gone.
|
Hmm, it was Ed Sullivan who edited the message...
|
all the files out the mods folder were posted complete not just instructions and code to hack...breech of license agreement
|
The hack is to big to post up if any one wants it please contact me.
If I post up just the hacked files (two of them) and instructions would that be breakin the rules? |
Check your mail and thanks in advance :)

Post the files again and you will be banned. You can not post any files, not even if you have "edited" them.
|
Well... I did ask seems a pretty pathetic forum to me where people are encouraged to write hacks and are not even allowed to publish them!
Sorry if it breaks the rules but the hack has a whole subroutene for the unban feature and the whole hack is to big to post up and seeing were not alowed to post source code either dont see any other way or publishing the hack! |
If you read the license agreement you will see that it clearly states that you may not give out the source code.
btw why don't you put your valid license information in your profile? |
Post a text file giving steps to install it, telling what files to edit and such, not the actual php files.

Ok... Would this do?
|
I really like this hack and it works well. How would I go about adding a couple of things?
I want the mods to be able to use the mailing list and be able to send a mass email to all members, just the mods, and just a certain user group. Can this be done and how could I do it. Thanks and nice hack, -JRW |
Ill add it to the to do list ill be working on Version 2.1 soon as soon as my mate lets me use the FTP server hes been having probs with it at the mo..
To Add Mods can send mass emails Mods can edit their own profiles Idividual User Stats *maybe* |
I know lots of people have been asking for this, but nobody seems to have done it, and people have generally been less than helpful (as well as downright abusive) when I asked for help doing it. (I'm a PHP nebwie)
SO anyway, for the mod control panel, there could be an option similar to what the admin can do to private forums- if you create a private forum and appoint a mod to it, the mod can grant access and revoke access to only his forum. This would be great for things like company sites where you have lots of different projects, you can make the project manager a mod and let him add members to his team or whatever, there are tons of uses. |
I think that could be a useful feature if I am understanding it correctly.
I am basicly setting up communities for various organizations and allowing them to run them on their own with only minimal help from me. I would want the mods to have complete control over many aspects of the forum. Obviously, I wouldn't want them to be able to edit the templetes and things of that nature. I think that this is a very good hack and with a few more additions it should become part of the actual software. Please keep us up to date with any additions. Thanks, -JRW |
ok i couldnt find this post till just now anyways i get a parese error on a line when i try this hack i dont know if it is the way i ama dding the part that says add this to end of file there is the end like ?> do i put it before this yes? or after it? i figured it had to be before that could soemone who has this working tell eme xactly where to insert the start unban part of code thanx alot

|
k@mi, does that work with 2.0.3 and can you restrict what user groups have this full power?
|
Can someone start over from the beginning with this hack?
|
I would just like to say that I have this hack installed and it works perfectly. It allows there to be a LIMITED ACCESS CONTROL PANEL which only users in the groups MODERATOR, SUPERMODERATOR, and ADMINISTRATOR can access it. Baisicly it gives your moderators more power over your forums so that you (as the admin) don't have to do everything on your own. As I have stated in a few replys back, there are a few otehr things I would like to see added which I think would be very usefull.
-JRW |
Tried this several times on 2.0.3 and I keep getting a parse error when trying to view/edit users.

I took the group change code out for obvious reasons becausde I found out people could promote themselfs to admin :D
Not having much knowledge with PHP i simply removed it... Ive not rearlyl tested it on 2.0.3 as I only co-administrate the boards im on and all though they use 2.0.3 what I test with is only 2.0.0 i dont think my mate would appreciate if I ran rampant roudn the actual forms :) as far as I know its running fine ill have a look I will restart this thread but at the monet im still trying to iron out bugs and maybe add more to the new version. |
Does anyone have this running on 2.0.3?
|
I would also really like to see this hack work for 2.0.3 or even 2.2.
I need my moderators to be able to change a users group listing and right now, the only way to do it is to have them with admin access. Does anyone have this working on 2.0.3 or 2.2 yet? ~Z |
This hack won't work with vB 2.2.0, is it goning to be fixed?
|
I'd love to see this for 2.2.0. My supermods bitch and whine because they don't have admin priviledges...and I'm sick of unbanning people. :D
|
I need this hack for 2.2.1, any updates?
It´s a very good one... Thanks, Psico. |
