Can I just say that this looks fantastic! I love the style, it resembles what I'm building for a new site (but now my site will look like every other one).

It's about time that we step out of the tables.

Hasann 10-14-2009 05:31 AM

I don't like the new looking of vBulletin 4.0
seems like exactly wordpress..

Frank Sinatra 10-14-2009 06:32 AM

Really nice, clean and soft
I will be happy to renew the license :)

Attitude5ire 10-14-2009 06:32 AM

I have to agree with Hasann, the hype of vB4 has definitely reaped below par first impression. The style looks pale and the postbit very clattered. The worst is the logo i mean it looks like they' have gone retro with the logo. I really do hope vB4 has a better core and earns its points in performance.

Pete C 10-14-2009 06:50 AM

It looks like some kind of hybrid between Facebook & phpBB and imo it's horrible. I certainly won't "upgrade" to this.

New Joe 10-14-2009 07:23 AM

It looks bad.
I will stick to what I have 3..8.4
vB always had a different look than other forums now it just looks the same as them.
Bad idea to make it look like it does.

That is what i should have said, well said that man.
vB 4:down:

murekhalir 10-14-2009 07:36 AM

I can only say - pure awesome.

JohnBee 10-14-2009 07:56 AM

I don't like the look(to common) though I'm sure that's only cosmetic anyways so who cares... As long as the core improves as we don't loose any of the customization power in the process, I say bring it on!

RobbieZ 10-14-2009 08:51 AM

The point is the possibility to add new gadgets and mold it to your needs.

It looks like this because it is basic. The CSS can be tweaked to make it look how you want it to!

Paul M 10-14-2009 09:26 AM

They only posted a screenshot of the horizontal postbit (which I hate), there is also [still] the vertical legacy postbit.

i agree hope it will be better then that when it comes out

Sid_pachi 10-14-2009 09:42 AM

Heavy Sigh!!!!!!

alimcm 10-14-2009 10:10 AM

It is a real tragedy..! looks woe full, terrible!
I can't stand the look, as Hasann said It's really looks like Wordpress!
I hope VB staff do something and make its look better
and I hope the core and the engine do properly and has more options
...

By the way the price and the upgrade fees is not fair at all!
Just sooooo greedy... dudes ! vb should not get so greedy and mean !
NO need to become Bill Gates the second! ;)

ashley76 10-14-2009 10:15 AM

Looks really good to me. I use Wordpress as my homepage and this has lots of "WordPress" characteristics. Can't wait. Paid for now that I have seen at least how it "could" look...

meissenation 10-14-2009 12:06 PM

I haven't really been following the vb4 progress until I saw the screen shots and got the e-mail about pre-ordering until Oct 30th. Is it being released Oct 31? Anyone know the release date?

Brandon Sheley 10-14-2009 12:26 PM

I'm not impressed with the look of the CMS

fer_75 10-14-2009 12:48 PM

I really love it. Very curious about to see the new commercial skins. vb 4 rocks!

-=Leb=- 10-14-2009 12:48 PM

Looking forward to install it. I think you can costimize the view.

Llandy 10-14-2009 12:55 PM

Look's 'ok', I guess..
Gonna wait a week and see if i decide to upgrade or not.

Akademiks 10-14-2009 01:21 PM

hmmmmmm I dont like it that much either, nothing great, also the only good thing i saw was the profile page

angkor408 10-14-2009 03:15 PM

look nice. Since we are paying annual support every year, why VB charge for upgrade price? This suppose to be free. I'm just curios......

jalmz 10-14-2009 03:32 PM

im in Yahoo Webhosting.... huhuhu i love the vb 4.0... anyone knows how to transfer Yahoo! domain name hosting to Go daddy?

TNCclubman 10-14-2009 03:34 PM

vB 3.8 = windows XP
vB 4 = Vista.

lol

vividbreeze 10-14-2009 05:03 PM

i like it , keep up the good work!

combs 10-14-2009 05:05 PM

Wow..that is what I been waiting for? I like the blog/site type stuff. The member pages are OK..but the forum look itself is boring and bland and about 5 years ago. What a disappointment.

Thanks for that info - saved me posting a question about it!

BigBass 10-14-2009 05:41 PM

paying for something that isnt even released...

You guys need to start looking a little closer at the details

mhackl 10-14-2009 05:59 PM

I'm not sure how one can compare the 3.x base style to this and not think that it's a significant improvement. But really, who users the default style anyway?

Scovic 10-14-2009 06:35 PM

OMG!
vBulletin is now officially a wordpress/joomla hybrid, the only difference is that wordpress and joomla are free.
Plus....
How on earth have they the cheak to sell something that is not even out of alpha stage and may not be released for months and months.

This is going to lose vBulletin so many loyal users, I bet the old vBulletin team are laughing their heads off now!!!

I do not care about the "look" of a CMS. What I care about in a CMS is functionality, if it's easy to use, good coding (back & front), easy to update etc. The design in the templates can be done by any graphic designer, you do not need vbulletin for that. In fact, it's best if vbulletin keeps de default design as simple as possible (Google style) and then make it very easy to work with the xhtml and css in templates so customers can build their own layouts.

Linux123 10-14-2009 08:09 PM

Damn looks brilliant!

+buG 10-14-2009 08:55 PM

You guys know vBulletin has a custom template feature, right?

robdawg 10-14-2009 10:26 PM

The people complaining about the look and feel are hilarious. It is the default style! Don't be lazy and customize it! haha, thanks for the good laugh though.

I will be buying/installing.

Chuta 10-14-2009 10:28 PM

Really Nice...Profiles Look Like Facebook But The Design Its like an Exactly Copy of Joomla :S

First impressions is everything, even if it is a "default" layout. So lol right back at ya.

maidos 10-14-2009 11:27 PM

think i just wait for 5.0
since the hole web 2.0 is soemthing new for the devs at vb and honestly i dont like it. Features are quite weak compares to other bulletinboard
not the worth for the 250 dollars upgrade for now
as the previous poster
4.0 is vista lol

jalmz 10-15-2009 12:52 AM

wordpress still the best...

hugh_ 10-15-2009 03:06 AM

Jelsoft still don't get it, their suite needs a 'stream', a downloads tool and a decent picture album...

jambo_1969 10-15-2009 05:08 AM

Not overly impressed even if it is the default.

I use Joomla aside from my VB site, and the first thing I thought, was Joomla.

One question - most of us will have mods etc attached to our boards, and reading between the lines (correct me if I'm wrong), they are unlikely to work...given some of the addons are "critical" to my forum, are we going to have to wait until the coders translate them over ? Or, will they work on 4.0 ?

Not migrating until I know at least some of the core mods I require will work, or at any rate, have had access to a VB demo site running 4.0
