How Much Hard Drive Space Do You Have ?

How much hard drive space do you guys have in your desktops ?

I have approximately 1890 GB spread across 4 drives.2 internal (500 + 320) and 2 external (750+320)

Caddyman 09-14-2009 03:24 PM

350 gig i think, that is all i need.

Dean C 09-14-2009 05:09 PM

Too much :(

archet1337 09-14-2009 05:28 PM

2x 600GB Internal
1x 2,0TB External (RAID1)
1x 500GB External

Using about 20% of it, so its kind of wasted :P

500 GB for my OSes, programs, etc.
1TB for the rest of my data.

jakarta 09-15-2009 08:18 AM

Only 160 GB ..
I plan to buy more diskspace later :)

kevcj 09-15-2009 01:04 PM

Total space

2 - 160 gig SATA drives
1 - 80 gig IDE drive
1 - 320 gig passport drive
1 - terabyte drive <--- this is a USB external drive that my wife and I share. Its connected to her computer, and networked so I we both have our own folders on it. With the way things are going, I will probably get my own terabyte drive just for my computer.

My wife and I do a lot of digital photography. One of my 160 gigs drives is almost full of nothing but pictures and home videos. I might go out on a hiking or camping trip and take 4 - 6 gigs of pictures and videos in a single day. So between my wife and I we use a lot of storage space.

Why do you need 8TB+ in your desktop?

atmaca 09-18-2009 05:21 AM

Some people, myself included, have an archiving habit. I archive literally everything. I archive previous OS installations, documents, music, pictures, game saves, program settings etc. It soon builds up in size :)

Wayne Luke 09-18-2009 01:11 PM

Altogether, I currently have about 2 terabytes. I need 3 or 4 more to archive my movies.

I remember when I got my first hard drive and thought "How am I ever going to fill up 20 megabytes with stuff?" Of course then your operating system can on a 1.44 MB floppy and you didn't need to install applications.

Calash 09-18-2009 01:46 PM

Not all on a single disk, or even the same computer, but I probably have about 1TB in my house, most of it network resources.

matthewhotdude 09-18-2009 02:23 PM

10tb altogether 8 of that is in me home server

Speedy2000 09-22-2009 02:21 PM

500 GB for Mac OS X, 500 GB for Windows 7, and 2x 1 TB WD hard drives. Also have a WD MyBook external drive, but that's only used for Time Machine to create backups. So 3 TB of disk space :)

For my p0rn collection. I'm adding another 10TB for archiving the internet, I have the same bad habits as Dean. >)

Outside of the desktop I have 1TB of HDD space on the Nintendo Wii, 120gigs + 1TB for the Xbox 360, and lots of old HDDs lying around the house that are currently not in use.

Dean C 09-22-2009 05:12 PM

You have a lot of bad habits Brad. One springs to mind ;)

I can pee in a cup now and pass. ;)

320GB primary hard drive, and a 500GB backup drive, which crapped out on me last month. I just bought a new 160GB drive which I have to install still, but it's favored for speed not storage. :)

Reminds me of very early 80's possibly late 70's

My parents bought me the top of the range BBC B with 32kb of memory and a tape recorder to save programs to, and load from.

I recall getting the hobbit game, and it taking 20 minutes of buzzes and whirrs to load up onto the bbc.

Some years later I gifted this to a disabled centre, who I later found out had trashed it upon receipt, because they will not use gifted electronics.

When I was about 28 yrs old, I spotted a bbc b 32kb in local paper, with disk drives. I just had to have it !

Still got it.

Oh how I miss the simplicity of B.A.S.I.C !!! ;)

Primary hard drive - 140GB ( with WinXP )
secondary HD - 30GB ( with Ubuntu )

This is enough for me, but of course I'd love to have more :P

I'm sporting 3 1TB harddrives (NAS) I do a lot of movie and photography work.

Inside I have 2x500GB (merged together in windows 7 for 1TB) and 2x75GB, one is for windows and applications, the other is for basically a swap drive and junk.

karlm 10-01-2009 08:49 AM

Between 2 laptops and an external driver, I have 450GB.

I forgot to add my tower though, which is another 200GB (650 total), so I selected the wrong one from the options.

Lizard King 10-01-2009 10:33 AM

A----freakin----men...

Love the old school. I still have "Pong" which I can now play on my Granddaughter's cell phone...but not before I enlightened her to the "app". I still wonder (worry) about where we are going....

Currently, we have only 25 GB available. We're right now using about 14 GB for Hearts4Horses.Com.
