16px x 16px Smiles + Post Icons Pack. (W.I.P)
 

I'm working on a pack of miniature smilies (16px by 16 px) along with integrating post icons which will result in a mega pack. I'm just wondering if there's an interest in such a small sized smiley+post icon pack and possibly to get some suggestions.

Preview Below. Suggestions on post Icons are welcomed, I plan on adding support and other icons to convey designers/coders/ etc so other suggestions will be considered and implemented into the final pack.

Its too small IMO.. I like big smilies. :)

I'll partially agree with you, but I'll put that down to our own personal preference for preferring the larger smilies. ;)

I'm thinking more of the people that prefer to have their text formatting not broken as much. if they used their larger variants which was a focus point on the last smiley pack I submitted in here for a critique.

You see where I am coming from. Some people hate this. And much prefer the following.

Wow, Shelley! That's actually the thing I hate most. When you see a post, with a long paragraph of text, and in it has like 10 smilies that make the whole post look like crap.

I'd actually be interested in these greatly.

I am also looking for post icons. Here's a few ideas for them: A bug post icon (for if you're reporting bugs - obviously), some of the normal ones, one with an exclamation mark, one with a question mark, a new poll one to match, and just a few smiley icons I guess.

If you ever did that and released it here, please PM me and I'd download them instantly! :D I love your work Shelley.

I already Designed a bug (insect) related post icon a minute or so after I submitted this preview amongst others. I''ll also design support related icons too. Anymore suggestions you think for post icons feel free to suggest. afterall, some post icons are best suit to be used by the staff so I'm taking this onboard and with post icons using the usergroup system I can design post icons used by only staff.

I'll update the preview a little later with what I have so far.


I'll be releasing a separate animated pack though the pack will be in the gif format.

That is a very good demo you have given there and you are entirely correct in saying that larger smileys break up the text formatting (if used in between) while smaller ones do not.

While that is undeniable, I think the reason we use smiley's is not for some practical purpose but for fun. And IMHO small smilies are no fun even if they are "practical" It is difficult to even make out what the smiley is trying to convey.

I would rather use one larger smiley at the end than ten small ones in the text. But as you said its personal preference. :)

A preference that i share with you on. But I like to cater for everyone which from the last thread I created similiar to this had that very issue highlighted so It's mainly for others benefits than my own as I won't be using the smilies myself. ;)

When the full pack is complete only then will I release them otherwise I'm back and forth uploading, modifying attachments adding icons which is not the way I work or submit stuff.

I'm flying through these so it won't be too long. :)

If you're willing to do a custom one, I'm about to open a gaming forum too, so how about a tiny controller?

I could include that but can't promise that I will simply because I want the icons to be as generic as they can be with the most useful icons that people will use and benefit from. Maybe in specialized themed addon packs would I create such icons.

Well, could you just make it for me, and not include it in the pack? Just release it separately?

I'm also thinking that we'll need a poll bar icon to match, for the "/misc/poll_posticon.gif" icon, so all post icons on the website match your set when I install it. :)

Sorry about that, I've been busy with other projects that are higher priority over these (Seeing as these are going to be free) therefore they are lowest priority. Once I've finished the pack you'll be the first to know and I'll send you a pm saying they are completed.

I'll also include the post poll icon, I do with all post icon packs.

Can't say for sure, depends on my mood and time I have. it could be 40, 50 though because my time is limited I'll probably stop at 40. I'm at 34 atm so it shouldn't be too long. I'll try and finish these up by friday, and if I miss any I'll submit them in an add-on pack or something at a later date.

These are going to match my gaming site perfectly.

I really REALLY like these but to cater for a larger audience would be good if you could release a pack where there slightly bigger currently there to small.

Shelley, it's been a while. I'm wondering if these will be released soon. If you're still missing icons to make, might I suggest a gaming controller icon, for gaming sites?

I'll be releasing them by the end of the month. The pack won't consist of any gaming icons, only generic icons and other popular icons not associated to gaming or specific niches.

Themed icons will come at a later date.
