Alpha testing has started for vBulletin 4.0 Forums
 

We hit an important milestone this morning, with the vB team publishing the first alpha release of vBulletin 4.0 Forums to the alpha team.

The alpha cycle is special in that it is released far earlier in vBulletin's development cycle than betas, the goal being to get more eyes on the product and get it running in more environments as soon as the product is installable, well before we reach the beta stage.

As soon as it is ready (in a few weeks), we will release the alpha version of vBulletin 4.0 Suite to the alpha team, and I'll keep you posted on how each release progresses.

Seems vBulletin 4 is moving along nicely with this announcement, and no more delays.

Sounds great, now just time to wait for 4.0 to come out to us.

Not to be impatient, but when will we get access (approx.)? I'd like to get cracking on converting our styles.

If you are selected for Alpha testing, then you should have access by now.
If you are selected for Beta testing, you will have access once the Beta is released.
For all others you will have access after the Beta period.

Anyone know any alpha testing site?

No, nobody knows when it will be released. When that information is known, it will be posted on vbulletin.com.

I want to hear what those who have it think. Basically yay or nay if they aren't allowed to say much.

Everyone has signed a NDA and they are not allowed to speak about the testing.

How many stages of Alpha testing are there?

I have been waiting a long long time now to get a new professional skin created for our members. Is there any chance that there can be a beta released to the public before this? I figured i'd just wait for VB4 so it wouldn't go to waste.

I would just love to get started on a new skin set. But oh well..i'll just wait I guess, but i'm really not expecting this till December or something...hopefully i'm proved wrong and it comes out before then.

Beta release may be sooner or may be later...but this is what was stated by vBulletin.com:
