[AJAX] FAQ QuickLinker

1 Attachment(s)
This addon works with 3.7.x - 3.8.x!

DESCRIPTION

Moderating a support forum can be a repetitive task. Many questions have been asked dozens of times before, that's why you set up an FAQ blog to collect all kinds of questions? Got an RSS feed of that site?

You will save a lot of time then while answering repetitive questions in your forum with just one single click! That's what the "FAQ QuickLinker" addon does.

It displays items of an RSS feed below your message field when you reply to a post. These RSS items are clickable to add the corresponding item link to the message field (see screenshot 2). So if a user has a question that has been asked before, just click the RSS item title, submit your post, and the user will see the link to your FAQ article.

That depends on the software you are running. Screenshot 2 shows an RSS feed coming from a WordPress blog system.

What kind of editor are you both using? The plugin's only working with the Standard Editor right now, not with the Full WYSIWYG Editor. Maybe I get it working in upcoming versions.

Full WYSIWYG Editor
I?m using this :)

Searching in the RSS Feed goes well, but only adding it to the post with a press on it, doesn?t work.

Manoel J?nior 08-19-2009 12:53 AM

Doesn't work for me.

:(

Well, yeah, forgot to mention that by now this only works with the (non WYSIWYG) standard editor until I can figure out how to add stuff to the WYSIWYG editor with javascript.

Btw, your nickname's quite familiar. WebmasterPark? :)

Using the WYSIWYG editor?

Kolbi 08-19-2009 03:42 PM

@Alphawolf83

Better keep it english, so others can follow up on our conversation. :)

After you enabled RSS feeds in your Admin Panel, you can see the link to the subforum's RSS in your browser's address bar. Looks like this: http://www.domain.com/forums/externa...2&forumids=xxx

Manoel J?nior 08-20-2009 10:41 PM

Hmm, developed the plugin with that vb version, and works fine for me.

What doesn't work exactly? Doesn't the clickable links list show up? Doesn't anything anything happen after you click a link?

Manoel J?nior 08-22-2009 06:24 PM

This does not appear the list of clickable links.

This is a dilemma because I wanted to implement this very mod, because it is excellent!

Congratulations. Help me, please.

Do you have other addons installed that hook into the newreply panel? Tried deactivating them to see if one of them is casuing the problems?

Manoel J?nior 08-23-2009 03:16 PM

I have none of this product installed. There is to write the template?

No, the plugin changes the templates automatically.

Are you testing the plugin with a user that has moderator/super moderator/administrator user group? :)

Hey,

can you provide a temporary demo login for me (via PM of course)? I'd just need to be in the mod user group to see the plugin in action.

Damn, that's "debug output". :D Will fix it soon. That usually means that the URL provided is not a valid RSS2 feed.

WxP 08-26-2009 06:17 PM

Ok i`m waiting... :)

joshskeety 12-31-2009 11:14 AM

Another cool feature to this would be if it had a similar thread search type of capability to use keywords in the users post to bring up the likely FAQ items.

Cybertims 01-01-2010 11:11 AM

Can this be added to the bottom of the quick reply box as well please?

Cheers

Cybertims 01-01-2010 11:13 AM

One more thing....

How can you rss feed from the FAQ section?

I can make it bring up threads from Forum sections, but not from the FAQ....

Thanks again in advance
