DESCRIPTION

This modification gives users the ability to easily switch between linked accounts. Accounts can be linked by administrators via admincp or by users via usercp as long as these users know the passwords for both accounts. Optionally, you can disallow users to link and unlink accounts from the usercp.

I suppose if you were to start a new site and want to post as different people to pretend there was some activity going on this might be good lol (split personality ^^ )

This was one of the two mods you made Psionic Vision that were why I am still using 3.6.x.

I've just installed this, i've set up an additional Admin-Team account in the user profile section and linked it to my account but its not showing up anywhere, if i goto Usercp and edit details there is nothing showing there, or in the navbar, Ive got it set so that only admins can see and use this, does tha mean that it wont show on the navbar?? if so how do i switch accounts?

Also is it possible for my mods to use this aswell as there is a general Mods account that all the mods have access to so they can remain anonymous :D

The option is for linking and unlinking accounts. The links that are set up (no matter if through admincp or front-end) are usable by the linked users regardless of permissions.

Thanks for replying so quickly Psion, what i need to know is where are you supposed to be able to switch the accounts over? i've installed as instructed but i've still nothing showing in the navbar or in usercp>edit details as you have in the attached pics, i've no way of changing from username1 to username2 even though i've linked the accounts?

Up where it displays your username on the navbar, generally, it adds a drop down menu directly following your username.

Cheers kayvin, thats the same area as it shows in the pics, which is where i was expecting to find the dropdown menu, but for some reason its not happening on my site, I will have to look into it a bit more, its not showing in the usercp either :confused:

Would it be possible to add the dropdown link manually to my navbar?

Is this a custom template, and if so, have you checked to see if it displays properly using the default vBulletin template, and see if it appears, because QAS shouldn't have had any trouble plugging into that one at the very least.

Oh, and Psionic, not sure if this is fixable or not, but if I'm logged in as an admin when the site's disabled (cuz I was doing upgrades), and I wanted to test the QAS after I added it. I tried switching to a non-admin account, and that worked fine. But when I was on my non-admin account, seeing the board is closed notice, it would still let me open the Account Switch dropdown, but my linked account wasn't displayed, so to get back in, I had to log out and log back into my admin account.

Not sure if that's because of what vB disables when the site's locked down, but I'm wondering if that can be adjusted at all.

I have been unable to unarchive the files. I am on a mac, and have had no problems with unarchiving files of this format before.

Ive done a bit of digging, and it appears that the error is caused by all the dots in the file name. Could you provide a simple file name version for me please?

I installed a new style and the dropdown next to the name isnt showing. It shows up fine in the other styles I use but just not this one. Is there a way I can get it to show in this new style? http://www.christianfellowship-net.c...php?styleid=22

Is it safe on this mod to upgrade to vBulletin 3.8.4?

Yes, this mod should be safe for use on 3.8.4.

I have the old version on 3.8.3 and we love it. I have not been able to upgrade as I can't seem to unzip the file. I keep getting a header error.

Updated: My bad! I took a chance and downloaded the file again and voila! The newest version of Stuffit Expander opened it. I am trying to decide now if I am brave enough to try upgrading to this version.

You have great faith in me! However, I am the vBulletin Village Idiot. LOL.

I guess I'm mainly afraid I'll break something else by installing the new code and every single time I have to upload something to Host Monster...it's a trauma. For me AND Host Monster.

But it is a great code and saved us as we do a Stargate RPG and each play several characters so I and my Writers/Players thank you very much. Installation and Donation forthcoming as soon as I get the nerve to try installing it.

Possible to mask IP so it doesn't show the same IP?

installed and linked but the drop down won't show on my style.. does show on default style though.. I looked into navbar template and saw nothing different

Show the same IP where?

That means your navbar template is severely different from the original. You might have to do the navbar modification by hand. If you want, post your template here as a text file.

I did figure it out.. I used [musername] instead of [username] to show the color.. I took the "m" out and all works now.

can it be allowed to mods/smods without the rest? I mean give them the option rather than doing it via admincp

EDIT:Wow ... I added a link to another admin and I was able to switch to his account without asking me for his password.. I don't even know his password !!!

EDIT: I noticed theres no drop down in vBPortal .. also, there is a drop down in vBAdvanced but it lists no linked users

I think we have the same mod installed: Username HTML Markup in Navbar.

I have made the changes in the QAS: Handle Switch global_start and everything works fine...all so with the colored Usernames in the Navbar.

Go to -> Admin CP -> Plugins & Product -> Plugin Manager and find the: QAS: Handle Switch global_start

Open it for edit.

Find:


and change it to:


Add only the m in red and everything work.

no I am not really using a mod for that.. I just went in and edited navra myself :) I didn't know there was a mod already...

I did look into one of qas templates but got kinda late and went to sleep..

Can you interlink accounts? Like, if I have Account A linked to Account B and Account C, when I switch to either one of them, they only link back to Account A. Could I go into Account B and Account C, link them together, and be able to switch to any account from any account I'm currently logged in as?

How can I prevent users from linking their own accounts? I just want this ability in the Admin CP.

I installed the plugin in my forum and I have the following question:
I have a common Moderator account and linked all users that are moderators to that account. The problem is that when switched to that Moderator account, the can switch back to any other account linked to Moderator account. So what I would like to know is if there is any way to do "one-way" linking or something like that.

For example:
A is linked to C
B is linked to C
When A switches to C, it can switch back to B, which is not exactly what I'm looking for.
