CND Garage - Timeslips

1 Attachment(s)
Description
CND Garage Timeslips is a garage/timeslip add on for vbulletin. Although it looks like phpbbgarage this is NOT a port, it is 100% my own code. I just modeled the layout to look like it.
Users can add as many vehicles, timeslips and images that the admin allows. The admin can define the amounts per site or per usergroup. Images are stored in the filesystem and thumbnails are automatically created as the image is uploaded.

Main Features
  • No vb template modification needed (except to add link to navigation/community)
  • Ajax driven menu's to keep load time down for very large lists of makes/models
  • Button images are attached to style so that each style can have their own images
  • 99.9% of the text is phrased so that it can be translated for multinational sites
  • User's vehicles shown in their profile (vb 3.7+)
  • vboption used for type of garage, to help aid in change it from a car to a motorcycle, atv, etc garage system
  • Easily import data from vbgarage

NEW FEATURES IN 2.0!!!!
  • New navbar menu, dropdown vehicle options and dropdown administrator options to clean up the layout
  • On the fly watermarking, text and image
  • Run garage outside of the forum directory
  • Image resizing, 3 sizes of images, link on lytebox to open large image
  • Trim field, vehicle class and purchase date added to the vehicle data
  • Vehicle of the day automatic cron added
  • Vehicle of the month setting with customizable image

Installation
Instructions, tips and more are now in the online documentation as well as an included chm file.
Both are linked in the read me file.

The garage is developed on vb 3.8.3 and tested back to 3.7.0. The garage will run on PHP 4.4.7+ compiled with GD/GD2 and MySQL 4.1.x+

I am currently working on an importer for the old timeslips database.

Additional options for the garage like dyno charts, modifications and lots more are included in the commercial version at CND Systems

Added
The vba_vehicle_display.xml is a vbadvanced module to add a verticle column with vehicles, can be either latest vehicles, random vehicles or the featured vehicle. Once imported you can modify the module to change the number of vehicles displayed. This only works with the 2.x series.
The forum_home_2_0_2.xml file is a vb product which will display garage images on your forum home page. It has options for the location and number of images which is set through the ACP vboptions section. This only works with the 2.x series.
The postbit_user_garage-1_4_1.xml is a vb product which will add a link to the user garage in the postbit. Configure this on the Garage General Settings vboptions tab.

Dylanblitz 07-04-2009 05:04 AM

btw, if anyone has a vb timeslips database they'd like to convert over, I'd love to get some test data from you so I can code and test out an importer.

The full (paid) version of this one has been around for about a year, its just that it was not publicized enough I guess. Excellent product and excellent customer support.

M_Portiss 07-05-2009 04:31 PM

i have ran CND garage for about a year on my board. Nothing but compliments on his software and his support.

(Sorry for the fan-boy like statement, but his garage mod really helped my forum!)

Awesome job I will have to install this tonight! Is it pretty easy to make changes to make it work with Motorcycles?

Yes, there are 2 settings in the vboptions, one is for the singular, ie Motorcycle, and one for the plural, ie Motorcycles. Change those and everything in the garage, besides the buttons, will change from Vehicle to Motorcycle. I have the button blanks included (photoshop) if you want to change those as well.

Hi,
this is a nice garage and the very Cheap Commercial Version have a lot of good features.

Silver740 07-07-2009 01:36 PM

Is there anyway this can be changed to do track times rather than timeslips? I'm looking for a mod that'll keep track of how fast a car can go around the track or at an autocross.

wottech 07-07-2009 01:59 PM

The commercial version can do track times as well as keep a list of tracks that your members have been to.

I had purchased the full version. It was too much of what I didn't want and too little of what I did want. Of course, to each his own.

I only want the track times, nothing else. Something light with only one purpose.

Dylanblitz 07-07-2009 08:02 PM

This version isn't really setup to do lap times. It's possible, but you would need to edit the phrases, hide some fields from the template and use some plugins to add some other fields that can hold text. Bit more involved then what your looking for though I think.

Bulldog Stang 07-08-2009 05:59 AM

So Dylan, is this a Stand Alone version or does it integrate with the CND Garage ??? I have purchased 2 Garage Mods from you and noticed that they have a timeslip db in there... Is this hack different or what ??? Please explain a bit more in detail what this actually does ...

Dylanblitz 07-08-2009 06:14 AM

It is a stand alone version of the garage that has vehicles and timeslips. It doesn't have the businesses, dynos, laptimes, etc.

bposner 07-14-2009 08:36 PM

I just stumbled across this. Looks nice. I'm upgrading to 3.8.2 tonight, from 3.8.0 and will add this as the next feature to our site....
Thanks!

bposner 07-14-2009 11:56 PM

Installed, so far impressed, instructions were excellent. I have on issue where the text in the area by the buttons to upload images is not coming over for the template I'm using. It defaults to back. What template edit area should I change to get it to match, or change that text?

Thanks!! great app from initial testing.

Can you send me a link or a screenshot so I can see what you mean? I'm not sure where you are talking about.

Sorry for the confusion.. there is text to the right of the buttons that aren't picking up the template font color.

I sent you a pm. I don't see any text that should be there that isn't showing, unless you added something custom? It should show regardless. Standard colors for a table data cell should apply.

bposner 07-15-2009 01:28 AM

I see you logged on, the system is hidden in the default style, under the community menu, it's not available in the on the menu on the default style, regular users don't have access to it yet, I'll set you up a test account to try out.

bposner 07-15-2009 01:38 AM

Here is the default with next to the right

bposner 07-15-2009 04:41 PM

I am getting the following error: "You have reached the maximum amount of vehicles allowed"
I am using a brand new user in a brand new user group who has never entered a vehicle.
There are 3 vehicles in the database.

Advice?

wottech 07-15-2009 08:10 PM

I see Dylan has released a new version, and said he found the error while working on your forum. Does the new version fix the error? If not, make sure your new usergroup has the appropriate permissions to add a vehicle.

Dylanblitz 07-15-2009 08:12 PM

For those that run into problems with not having permission to add vehicles or images...

If you use the Advanced Usergroup Permissions, you only need to add the groups that will be allowed access to create in the garage. If the group does not have permissions setup then the garage assumes they aren't allowed to do anything but view.

It should work as least restrictive, meaning if you are in two groups, the best access from those 2 groups will apply to you. From the testing on bposner's forum it looks like it's working the opposite. I'll try and find what's going on with that.

I was working with him through PM's :)

He had every group with permissions, 3/4 of them set to No and 0. Once he removed the ones that weren't going to have access it's working for those that do. Just need to test and find out why it started working like that.

bposner 07-15-2009 09:31 PM

Great App EXCELLENT 10+ Support. Thanks to the developer for all the help.
Dylan, thanks for all the help and time you dedicated to this app and our issue!!

Dylanblitz 07-15-2009 09:53 PM

Glad I could get it working right for you :)

Martyn1983 07-15-2009 10:53 PM

Hiya, installed and liking this. Just one problem coming up when I try and upload pictures: Get this at the top of the page

Warning: move_uploaded_file(images/garage/attach/garage_vehicle-1-12477018691.jpg) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/garage_func_var.php on line 899

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/tmp/phpNgwJdh' to 'images/garage/attach/garage_vehicle-1-12477018691.jpg' in [path]/garage_func_var.php on line 899

It's probably something obvious that I'm missing, but any help appreciated.

burntire 07-15-2009 10:58 PM

Very nice mod. I am having some issues. I can not delete images or set them as primary?

Most likely it's permission issues. The way your server is configured you need to chmod the forum/images/garage/attach directory to 777

What happens when you try? Does it give an error or just refresh the page and not do anything?

Just a refresh without applying the change.

Bingo!

As I said, it'd be something daft and it was exactly that! Oh, and the fact I hadn't uploaded the folder to the correct location!

Many thanks mate! Cracking mod :)

Hmm, think it might be some left over variable issues.

Can you try uploading this file to your forum directory? Overwrite the current one. Should fix the problem.

That did the trick.

What is the featured vehicle button for?

Good to hear :)

The featured vehicle will show on the front garage page if you set the vboptions to use the featured. There is only 1 at a time, it will clear the old one when you set a new one.

Ah yeah, having the folder in the right place is important :)
Good to hear it's working right now though. Let me know if you run into any problems. Might want to download the file in a previous post to fix some image issues.
