Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Google, Yahoo Login Option Mod
 

There is a website called rpxnow.com that already has all login options and updates them for you whenever there is a change (myspace, facebook, twitter, google, yahoo, etc). This is just like facebook connect BUT it has all of the other logins available as well and similar to Facebook connect, it will publish to twitter, myspace, etc.

Now all we need is to have someone create a plugin for it. A plugin for this already exists for Wordpress here http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rpx/ . I have already installed it on my WP blog and it works great.

I also put in a request to rxp to have this plugin/mod created as you can make requests and they actually listen...you can vote for it too without registering here https://rpx.uservoice.com/pages/8895-general . Look for the "make a vbulletin plugin" and vote.

Rpx has the same issue that the facebook connect mod is having in terms of not providing the email address but that is because Facebook does not allow it. As soon as facebook starts providing the email addresses (which I hear is soon as all other login options are providing email addresses) Rpx will take care of updating it on their end without anyone who has this installed on their end having to do much.

Anyone want to create the vbulletin plugin??? I am sure there would be a lot of donations!!!


12/30/09 - FYI...they just added a social posting widget too. Too bad no one wants to take on this mod. I would if I know one lick of coding. I know there are other mods that allow users to connect through FB but look at what is happening now that facebook is doing away with templates for example...we are pretty much left in the hands of the coder to update his mod. With RPX not only do you have so many more options that just facebook to log in but anytime there is a change to any of the social services, RPX automatically updates it on their end and we wouldn't have to do a thing. Just my two cents...

I have emailed back and forth with RPX and they are looking for programmers that may want to help them build this mod/plugin. I wish I could but I have no programming skills. Yes this is near enough the same and very easy to install but the google,yahoo side of thing do not work,They dont even work on the test forum so its a waste of time installing it

Oh - I didn't know that - I've not installed it, but only responding to the request since the mod functionality is similar - It's in beta stage so hopefully the kinks get worked out ;)
