Anti Double Post (or Bumping) System

1 Attachment(s)
How it works:
This hack will prevent a user from double posting and bumping threads (if bumping results in double posting). The new post will simply be merged into the previous post. If the user posts attachments, they are also kept and merged into the previous post.

Features:
  • Set time interval
  • Set the (Primary) usergroups this hack should work with (to allow admins and moderators to do what they please)
  • Disable hack

History:
  • 1.01 Fixed bug with temporary attachments getting moved
  • 1.02 Fixed double-double quick reply bug

To Add:
  • Option to move threads to another forum
  • Add date when bumping

Note:
Don't forget to click Mark as Installed!
Please pardon me if you find a bug. Report it instead of giving me a bad rating, I will fix it! :)

Works great for me on vB 3.8.3
10x

We already have at least two other add-ons that do the same thing, no? What does yours do that the others don't?

Merjawy 07-01-2009 01:56 AM

good hack,

I do have one concern though

on my forum I allow 15 attachments per post, (photos). mostly activities with lots of photos attached

So when a user posts a thread with 15 attachments, and replys to it to add another 15 attachments and more and more

what is going to happen to the attachements beyond 15th?

Thanks

Nice thank you for mods working

JointRolla420 07-01-2009 06:46 PM

hopefully i dont have the same problem as the other mod where it merges it AND posts it as well...

ill let you guys know if it works

JointRolla420 07-01-2009 07:17 PM

this hack does absolutely nothing at all.... there is no option to enable it in Settings, so im guessing you dont need to

but when i double post it doesnt merge anything at all it just posts like normal

BlueNinjaGo 07-01-2009 07:22 PM

what is the difference between Paul M's mod, and yours?

bleros 07-02-2009 12:05 AM

hey mann work with RSS poster ??? :D with double topics

JointRolla420 07-04-2009 08:29 PM

ok i reinstalled it and this time it added to my Settings page... it works good, the other mods for this are glitchy and dont work right.

the only thing i dont like about it is that instead of adding a line like: ------------------------------
or -------- Post Added x ----------

it does this

Bump: message here

The others are not glitcy, they work fine, and also do QR properly, not via re-direct.

i really wish someone would make a mod like this but allow selection of which subforums it would affect :(

Nice hack.

One question, how I can change the name of the 'bump'? u know, when I make a double post, the text what appears to 'merge' the posts.

ralle89 10-14-2009 03:30 PM

If you go edit the plugin code you can just search for Bump: and replace it with whatever you wish.
I should add this as a feature for a later version.

ludachris 10-19-2009 06:14 PM

Does this hack work only on time settings, or will it not kick in if another user replies first?

ralle89 10-19-2009 10:09 PM

It will of course only do anything if the same user writes several messages in a row. Like this:
A
A
A

but if person B comes in and it will be like this:
A
B
A
B
(within the time), nothing will happen.
It will not make the times look weird or posts that were supposed to be after messages will always come after messages and so on.

How can I change that "Bump:" for any other word or color, cursive type, ecc?

ricardoNJ 05-17-2012 03:48 PM

I made this modification:
PHP Code:

"<font color='gray'><i>\n\nMensaje Adherido Autom?ticamente: </i></font></p>"

Quote:

Mensaje Adherido Autom?ticamente:

RGB Hexadecimal Notation. Hexadecimal notation is used more frequently than standard color notation because it is much more precise. Hexadecimal notation is based on the system of reds, greens, and blues (RGB) that is in every pixel on your computer screen. Hexadecimal color names are made up of numbers and letters (which the computer reads as numbers), and are preceded by a # sign. A few examples follow:
