Quick question about announcements...

Apparently, you can no longer discuss the announcements in the discussion forum on vBulletin.com, but can you still discuss the announcements in the topics in this site, aka vBulletin.org? The topics I don't think have had posting disabled here, so I'm being hopeful in general, but it's annoyed quite a few users that they can't comment on the .com site on the announcements.

I have no idea if they are going to censor paying customers here as well. I obviously hope not, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they do. :)

on my side i would like these rules to be applied at least about unlicensed people... they are now invited in the Pre-Sales forum ONLY... with that rule, we would have half of useless comments in the Feedback and Lounge.

Lizard King 05-13-2009 04:42 AM

Comments have been deleted within vbulletin.org yesterday. So i think the same rule will be applied here also.

Andrew johnson 05-13-2009 11:55 AM

yeah - i liked that because there too many pre sales questions in wrong forums - with that rule - means more better system because people who not licensed will have use pre questions forum and less clutter - i vote for ray which he did right thing

It's funny, but how come the staff haven't clarified this?

nexialys 05-13-2009 02:56 PM

i suppose there is some staff meeting right now... ;)

If you read the annoucement it says this.

Quote:

Rather than using the Announcements Discussion forum as we have in the past, you are welcome to ask questions and provide constructive comments in the vBulletin Suggestions and Feedback forum, which will be open to all licensed customers.

Non-licensed customers will always be welcome to ask questions in the vBulletin Pre-sales Questions forum.

What response do you want from Staff? If there is a vb.com announcement posted here and it isn't open for discussion, then the thread is simply closed. Even though vb.org is run separately from vb.com, we do respect their decisions regarding matters about their site/product. Discussions regarding vb.com do need to be done on the vb.com site.

The only two threads closed were not vbulletin discussions, but threads/announcements about the internal running of vb.com. This site is not an appropriate place to discuss how another site is run.

cheat-master30 05-13-2009 10:05 PM

The point is, I'm not discussing how .com is run, just asking, quite simply, are we still going to be allowed to comment on the official announcements when they're posted here, aka post in this forum:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=2

Lynne 05-13-2009 10:27 PM

If the thread is locked, then no, it is not an announcement that anyone is allowed to comment on at all.

lasto 05-14-2009 07:04 AM

If cannot comment on them - then what is point in having the announcements here.

It's to provide information for us, which I appreciate. If we wish to discuss it, and the staff here would prefer we didn't, then I'm sure we can find somewhere else... you know... considering we all have our own forums... :)

Just my opinion though... and we all know what those are worth...

lasto 05-14-2009 01:22 PM

yeah i understand that but why have info if it cant be discussed.
This board is about vbulletin and seeing as the announcements concern everything vbulletin then dont it seem kinda weird that people cant discuss it here but have to go to vb.com for that.
Just seems topsy curvy thats all.Maybe we should`nt discuss anything vbull over here then.

Because this is a modifications site for vbulletin. It's better to have discussions in the same place instead of being spread out across several sites.
