Science and Religion =

What is the term to those who want/try to join the science and religion into one?
I heard the term many years ago and I can't find it again :(

p.s. Wow! I posted a serious question :p

<a href="http://www.scientology.org/" target="_blank">Scientology</a>?

However most religious followers and scientists would argue that it is neither. I say if it allows them to live better and more fulfilling lives than so be it. If this can be done without endangering others or infringing upon their rights than its not my place to deny them their beliefs.

well Scientology is now considered a denomination, [cult-like] but I was talking that 10 years ago I saw the term in a Scientific magazine, and it was a tendency to fuse both... they fell in the category of pantheists, deists, etc...

Sounds like some of Nietzsche's teachings where he posited that science made man equal to god. I know that is not it but let us know what you find.

say it as it is - crazy people

Tom cruise is one of them as well.

People always want to be different so start up new religons with no foundations to them at all.

iogames 05-12-2009 01:05 PM

hehe...

well it was a word... like pantheists, ppl who found similitude between the biblical text and the science relates...
Something that I have to put in a memo today Grrr...

Wayne Luke 05-12-2009 02:06 PM

Well there is a group of Pantheists that go behind revering Nature and believe that the Universe and all it contains is God. This would include science and all it entails.

Taking this a step further and you have Naturalism.

There is also Theistic Evolution which can be seen here:

These probably aren't specifically what you are looking for but could provide further clues.

we also have the Trekkies who are well endowed in science... lol

Exactly! I'm atheist but KNOW that EVERYONE needs something to believe in whether it be themselves, someone else, or "something" believed to be there. As long as that helps them be a better person and live a happy life I'm all for it :D Besides, I'll find out exactly "What's Up" when it's my time ;).

Edit: ... hmm, Science + Religion = A good way to go through life if you combine the two with a good attitude & outlook on life ;).
