VB is Takin the whole CPU

Hello..
i have a VPS witch Running one account only...
this account have Joomla and VB, and the most important thing that few days ago i noticed the the CPS alwayes Full, and when Stoped Joomla it stayed Full..
Few houres ago my hosting company stopped the Account During to Overload on my server
witch costing over load 2 on the entire nod...
and they asked me to move into a dedicated server, and not only a dedicated Server, NO, a very good dedicated server because the hit and Database overload on the server..

now they reactivated it so i can tell my members that the Site will be Stopped, and them, i Tried somthing...
i tried to Stop the Vb, and make the VB url redirects into a page in my Site..
Then the site worked very well and the Cpu not overloaded...

is that a possible reason the VB may take the Whloe CPU ?

My VPS Properties is:
Guaranteed RAM 256+ MB
Max RAM 12GB
Guaranteed CPU 208.8+ Mhz
Max CPU 2x3 Ghz
Storage (+ 1GB free for OS) 15GB

So... Can any bidy safe me from Drowning???

Thanks allot

vb do not drain your resource..the mods do! you have to track down which one it is to resolve it.With all that hardware you should be fine.Ever thought going to vb.com and ask for a server optimization.

bydosangel 05-03-2009 03:19 PM

hmmmmmmmm
am afraid that my site's hits and Rank is Going over and getteing better...
thats another reason that giving my site a headeach, i think..
may that be right or !!?

Thanks for the replay

R1lover 05-03-2009 03:29 PM

256mb of ram is not enough to run an active vb site imo.

you need to look for a better host in my opinion.

bydosangel 05-03-2009 03:34 PM

Doe's any body knows a Good hosting company with a good Prices??

Can you pleas advice me? am lookin all ovver the net for it...

What is your traffic and size of your site?

How many user over a 15 minute period?

It all depends on what size forum you have as to the best bang for the buck.

Lynne 05-03-2009 03:50 PM

It also depends on what modifications you have. If you have an arcade, then that will certainly have an effect on your resources.

For hosting talk and suggestions, please go to vBulletin Hosting Options

If you have over 700 members in a 15 minute time period then you need to be on a dedicated server, there is no other option imo.

I find this hard to believe though, but I can see as I have no clue what your site says.

Thanks Allot man...
Actuley i don't know neither, but i'm seeing over 70 user online now on joomla... because i stopped the Vb and made it redirect to joomla's page.

Lynne 05-03-2009 04:17 PM

You said you removed the arcade, but what is this - http://ana-souri.com/index.php?optio...ade&Itemid=296 ?

Andreas 05-03-2009 04:22 PM

70 sessions is nothing, any sahred hosting should be able to handle this nowadays.
There mus be smth. seriously wrong with your installation - or the hoster is crap and has put way to many VPS on a real machine.

1st step: Disable the Plug-in system.

I know its hard or am making it hard, but guys this problem is trying to Kill my site, and my dream and i won't let that happened..

And about the hosting company i think they are ok.. but this Problem accured Suddenly!!!
do you think i must change my hosting Company?

Lynne 05-03-2009 04:42 PM

If the problem occurred suddenly, then something caused the problem and you need to figure out what it was.

I was talking about actual members and at first you said 700? not 70... I have a site that is not being used that shows 60 people on joomla... so that means nothing really.

What we need to know is how many user you have on your forums over a 15 minute period.

not search engines etc...

Actuley i tried to optimize the Database through VB and Cpanel, Tried to do every thing i could.
Stopping the Hooks : didn't works
Stopping the VB: Worked
optimize and restructure the database through VB : didn't worked and giv's the VPS more head each when i do that.

Still, the hosting company says:
--------
Your server is taking huge overload on account ******. There is nothing much we can do, only to recommend you take down that account because your are doing damage on whole main node and will we have to suspend your VPS.
------
Another one:
------
All load is being caused by your main domain name. there is constantly over 150 connections to Apache open, and server is under extremely high load.
I am providing Apache full status report, and report from top command which will show you man php processes from main account.
It appears that your VPS is not able to handle all traffic that's being generated.
Please consider upgarding to dedicated server, I see that it started causing slowdowns on main node too.
---------

SO!!!!

Turn off pconnect (if enabled at all), make sure all files are unmodified.

As it is a VPS, you should have access to my.cnf - turn on slow query log (at least, maybe even query log).

gmerin 05-03-2009 05:06 PM

have you installed any mods that employ ajax (eg. Live Topics)? they generally make regular asych database queries that can keep your utilization high.

WEll i installed lots of mods to be Honest, such as post thank you and and and, but as i sayed prevousley, i tried to vb without hooks, no changes :(

R1lover 05-03-2009 05:31 PM

My guess is it's an over loaded box and the host is picking on the highest users to rid a few of them.

Get a new host.

Dismounted 05-04-2009 05:31 AM

Let it run for a while, and then post the slow query log. (Assuming you've enabled it as per Andreas' recommendation.)

This is STRICTLY IMO ;) and I mean that very seriously.

Siteground... umm NO, bad past experiences on behalf of another site I help run.
GoDaddy... Yes BUT max DB size is 200MB if I remember correctly
BlueHost, I have a friend who uses them and no problems.

Also I have a few review sites that give excellent pointers let me check bookmarks...

http://www.webhostingstuff.com/categ...b-Hosting.html

There's one but I have one saved where the sites creator spent a lot of time researching hosts and I want to find it for you but long story short take your time and make sure you get a company you can trust and rely on.

S-MAN
