A very special anniversary
 

This is a very special moment in my career as a forum admin. I'm sure others of you have gone past this milestone, but I'd just like to bask in this moment.

Today marks the second anniversary of my putting someone on Tachy.

That's probably not such an achievement, all things said. However, the person in question - a previously banned poster who came back under another name - is still posting. She's oblivious to the fact that nobody can see her posts.

*sniff* I feel so emotional...

We don't think so. We view her posts on occasion, and there's been one where we may have said something about how nobody will respond to her, but that's it. Not seen anything similar since.

In a week's time, we're looking at four years.

I'd like to thank my agent, my scriptwriter, my live-in hamster, and everyone who supported me for the last four years. Can we keep going for the half-decade mark?

"tachy" is/was the username of a person that kept trolling a forum, when banned he just joined and started again with another username.

The mod was written so that he was placed on a "global ignore" , he posted his rubbish but it was never seen by anyone else............

Tachy goes to Coventry comes from an English expression "to send a person to Coventry" which means to ignore them.

I've never actually used this feature... If someone is on this do their posts completely not show or can people read them if they click a link like regular ignore?

lol, I posted pretty much that same thing back a couple years ago. I also misunderstood and thought he meant this forum.

Thier posts are only visible to them and staff :)

Actually the staff only sees the message, "The administrator has decided that (username) be quiet for awhile" or some such. They don't see the posts.

A user who is in "Coventry" need only view the forum while not logged in, to discover none of his/her posts are appearing. If they stay logged in, they will see their own posts, like normal.

I've always wanted to create a mod that I call "steel cage match", which would be like putting multiple people "Coventry", except that they could see each other's posts (and of course staff could see as well, for entertainment purposes).

Make it ;) I would use it!!

Well, it will be in four months that it's nine years, and still the occasional post occurs. However, I'm in the process of dispensing with my forums, so perhaps the new owner will update this once in a while.
