prevent reduction of postcounter
1 Attachment(s)
This is a small, neat modification which let you delete old threads and posts without making your users cry that their postcounter decreases with that action.
While using this modification your user's postcounter will reflect their over-all-activity, not just "how many posts are currently in the database". You don't need any hidden trashcan-forum for old threads anymore, just to make sure nothing gets deleted ;) This modification is designed for vBulletin 3.8.x Version History: 1.10 - restore of post/thread does not increase postcounter as it was not decreased before when deleting it 1.00 - initial release for vB 3.5/3.6 (here) Installation is quite simple, just import the product and enjoy :) |
Question so you can perm delete a thread/post and it wont effect the post count of the user who made it?
|
Problem is, when you try to do search to view all posts by user, you'll get wrong data
|
@pein87:
Yes, you can hard-delete and/or soft-delete posts and threads, and the counter won't be reduced. @Lionel: No, you don't get wrong data, results are safe and just actual non-deleted posts of that user. This AddOn just affects the postcounter and makes sure it can only get +1 and never -1 by deleting a thread/post :) |
ok ... let's say someone has 10 threads. Then he does not post for a while, and you go and delete old threads. His profile still says he has 10 threads, right? And when you click to view posts by this user there will be nothing to display ... since they have been deleted ...
|
Where in the profile is any "10 threads by User" ?
There is just a link "find all threads by User" and "find all posts by User" and no amount of it :) This AddOn was already released for vB 3.5 and 3.6 and is used for a long time, nobody ever complained about the postcounter working with this AddOn - you just need to understand the postcounter per user is a "over-all-time" counter and does not reflect any actual value |
Look at your profile here in vb
mine says Total Posts: 2,865 (1.07 posts per day) and then view my posts And by the way, the post counter is a very accurate tool if you keep it the way it's supposed to be, or use the update counters. I am not putting your hack down. I am just trying to make you see a point: That will mess up your stats and throw errors |
He means it says you have so many posts but you actually dont have them so you cant search for all of them which gives you wrong data/false info I havnet tested this but thats is what he is trying to say.

I been having this problem for long time specially with old users at my board that complaints their post count when I delete posts or threads. With this mod now I can delete any i want and their post count will stay the same.
Thank you for resolving my issue. :D:up: |
I second. Very useful to reflect the real lifetime-contribution of a user. Thank you very much! :)
|
I think I will stick to archiving instead of deleting for now.
|
is there any way for this to work with the forum post count as well as the member post count. I'm always reluctant to prune threads from the forum as one of things potential members look at is the amount of threads and posts a forum has made.
|
Nice work, thank you!
Installed |
Thanks :)
|
Where it says "x users have made a total of x posts in x threads", if I delete a post the users post count doesn't change, but does the board counter change?
|
Does exactly what it says, dont worry about the others moaning, great hack man.....

Hi,
We installed this mod in our forum but just recently we discovered it's causing the weird post increase whenever a thread is moved. The increase will depend on the number of posts you have on that thread multiplied by how many times you move it. Like if I transfer a thread from Forum 1 to Forum 2 and I have 50 posts for that thread, 50 posts will be added in my post counter. When I move it back to Forum 1, another 50 will be added. Can this be investigated? We really love your add-on! We hope something can be done with this. Thanks in advance! :) |
I find this mod longtime ago, it's have a mod just like this but have modified php files.
|
was waiting for it comes in handy when pruning.is there a way to disable and enable it.thanks
