Add BBCODE in Group Description

1 Attachment(s)
This plugin will allow BBCODE in the social group description. I am hoping Jelsoft does this on their own in another version. This does just what WE NEED. The only reason I post it here is to share with others. I will not have time to support this plugin.

Install the PLUGIN file (not product). Enjoy.

This plugin was developed for Andy R from Social Knowledge and released here for others to enjoy.

any shot Jafo? :p

Jafo232 03-28-2009 12:53 PM

No, not really. Just look at a social group description, and imagine bbcode in there. :P

good one, thank you!

THANK YOU! I finally found a use for a social group and almost had to abandon it because it required sharing links to further instruction pages in the description. :)

Skyrider 04-07-2009 08:22 AM

So, how exactly do I enable this BB code within descriptions? It seems to work within the group itself, but it won't work when viewing over all the social groups.

dklassen 04-19-2009 07:04 PM

When you create a link, the mod works when you are looking at the description on the group home but when you look at the group list it shows up as raw code in the description. The raw code also shows in the random group box and the your groups box.

Can we get a fix?

dklassen 04-20-2009 03:28 PM

Anyone?

dklassen 04-21-2009 12:44 PM

It appears this mod isn't ready for prime time. Nice try but it has huge flaws and it's too bad really as it's something that's really needed. Apparently they are not going to get fixed.

TNCclubman 04-21-2009 05:36 PM

wow, this is huge, can we get it working properly... also does it show all bbcode including custom? Is there any security issues with this?

JacquiiDesigns 05-25-2009 05:43 AM

Any fix for this to have the bbcode parse on group.php?
This would be very nice if yes! Anyway - Thanx for the share ;)

Jacquii.

Full Social Group Description BBCode Support

I stumbled upon this mod, liked the idea behind it but was disappointed at the support only being for the one area. This will enable the BBCode to work for the Description in the Group, the Category Listing and the Social Group Overview for the Random Group.

Hope you guys enjoy.

Nice share! Perhaps you should post your own thread for your enhanced modification!
I like it though - Thanx for sharing.

Thank you! Worked like a charm.

Hey Dude - can you possibly share how to add the parsing for the usercp.php Subscribed Social Groups section?

Will really appreciate it!

Thanx ;)

Jacquii.

Null Parameter 06-02-2009 02:03 PM

I never even thought about putting it there, I'll look into it.

JacquiiDesigns 06-02-2009 08:54 PM

Thanx!
I think that is the only spot left where the bbcode should be parsed.
Anyway - I'm really enjoying the modified hack you posted - it's quite ingenius!

Jacquii.

JohorBahru 06-07-2009 08:37 AM

after installed, it is still showing me "Group Description: (BB Code is not allowed)"
:(

any idea?

Null Parameter 06-07-2009 06:47 PM

It will still say that. This doesn't change the default wording there, it just actually enables it.

Finally, I'm slow... :P
this plugin won't auto parse a link for you, a is needed.
for eg:
www.yahoo.com is not working
[url] www.yahoo.com [/url ] is working

ablaye 08-31-2009 05:56 AM

Works great. Installed it on my Health and Wellness forum!

Gladius2007 09-09-2009 12:03 PM

Thanks, Null... we really shouldn't have to hack in something as basic as this manually, but what can you do... here's hoping someone over at Jelsoft finally adds it to the core.

I'm using this version of the plugin, but it appears to be placing a space and 20 in the URL that is causing it not to work correctly.

Here is the URL code I am putting in...

Code:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=109846032676120572709.0004736ddaac069a5f54e&ll=-15.284185,-136.40625&spn=153.885395,360&z=2

This is what it is actually outputting in the new browser window...

Code:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=109846032676120572709.%200004736ddaac069a5f54e&ll=-15.284185,-136.40625&spn=153.885395,360&z=2
Notice that space character in the output code, any thoughts that could be causing it?

XLCR GODFATHER 08-06-2010 06:32 AM

Is there a mod like this for 4.0.5?

n1k 08-19-2010 11:36 PM

Hi. I have problems with extra <br />-s
For example, if description is
Quote:

a
b
c
the mod converts it into
Quote:

a

b

c
Any ideas?

Me too. Why it is doing that? Makes no sense...

Perpetuum 09-03-2010 03:01 PM

I could fix the break issue.

You must fix the code for the group_start_postcheck hook from:
PHP Code:

$parser->do_parse($group['description'], truetruetruetruetruetrue);

to

PHP Code:

$parser->do_parse($group['description'], truetruetruetrue, [B]false[/B], true);

It would be great if there were a WYSIWYG editor on the group edit page cause lots of people dont know the codes to bbcode or are too lazy to type them out.

BabyNameAddict 03-18-2011 02:14 AM

Does this work for 4.1 as well? I need this feature badly! :)

mmoore5553 11-02-2011 07:54 PM

anyone get this to work in 4.1.7. I have tried and no luck.

Just tested it on vBulletin v3.8.7 Patch Level 3. It didn't work for me.
