can you make a /you code?
|
If I'm not mistaken, a short while ago somebody already made a /you code.
@Bananalive: I got an automatic update notification. What has been updated? |

Note: /me is also case-sensitive so, /ME won't work and /me must be right at the beginning of the line. |

Hmmz... is there no way to make this so it works everywhere in a post instead of only at the beginning of a line?
Because now it works only in the beginning of a sentence and that's no real bbcode imho because bbcodes work everywhere. |
Sorry guys, I recall asking Boofo about this last year.
What is this "me" thing people talk about. I dont get it. |
@TimberFloorAu: Well.... the example says it all.
It's something which is blown over from IRC chats. The /me statement was kind of invented there. It's another way (and much shorter) to put in your own name to a comment. But like I already said.... the example says exactly what it does. |
Ok thanks.
Its not something I have ever used, and so wish all the people using it, lots of fun lol Appreciate your reply  |

See the example ^ i.e. Example: YOU type this in... [high] * TheLastSuperman is here [/high] IT turns it into this after you hit post :D * Bananalive is here That is all, there are other mods that do other words or functions, use the search above to find them or start browsing if your interested. okies thanks, so merely typing /me or in the other mods case /you adds your name automatically.
So the bbcode is parsed on the fly? or you have to type ? PHP Code:
|
The BBcode is parsed when pushing the "post reply" or "post new thread" button so it's parsed on the fly if I understand correctly.
It is not a bbcode which should be used with the [ and ] signs. In the other mods case, the /you code adds your name automatically, the /me code my name. That's indeed how it works. |
Now I got you.
so correct me if I am wrong. How is the you variant used. [high] PHP Code:
bob said to bob |
Ok installed me and you.
Doesnt work. Only displays if using [you] in thread title. Example on our forum. Ste http://www.yobromofo.com/forum/barbi...tml#post117146 |
Right crikey, why doesnt it parse mid sentence ?
Only works if the / me code ( minus space ) is the very first word |
Oke, I don't know sure about the "you" code, I did not read that thread and I do not use that.
However, I agree with you about the /me code. See my post #14 on the previous page. It's also my opinion that it should work in the middle of a sentence. |
I've added /me in mid-sentence for v1.1 although i think it's weird
|
No problem, we like it. Thank you for adjusting it!!:)

Thanks, have added a tutorial piccy for our members, lol.

I am not sure if I want to allow my members to use this /you thing in thread title..will be fairly confusing. Are their permissions you can setup for this?

'/me' is not processed in threadtitles |
Ya, I wasn't thinking that they were two separate mods or anything and I was looking at the image that guy posted - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...2&d=1239575679
Sorry about that bud :P. So, this mod is just allowing users to do /me and nothing else? Great! Thanks bud. |

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '&', expecting T_VARIABLE or '$' in /homepages/45/d250243461/htdocs/forums/includes/class_postbit.php(294) : eval()'d code on line 27
Erm...help? That's what I get with v1.0 and 1.1 is even worse. How do I fix this? |
great job! One request though. If its in between "quote" tags, can you disable it or make it show the original posters username? Because if someone types that and then another user quotes that post.....the 2nd user's name appears in the quote, not the original username
btw - any reason for the "*" that appears right before the username in the post? Can that be an option to get disabled? Also another suggestion - maybe having another option to change the color of the output. sorry, just some thoughts |

Downloaded and installed 1.1...
[me] doesn't work at all- should it? this works if it's not the first thing or only thing on the line- it only works mid sentence, and it changes the font color to red for all text after it... I guess I was looking for code that simply replaced [me] or /me with my username only, no font colors, asterisks, or funny stuff- and works... uninstalled for now. |
OK, marked as installed BUT... I edited the code to work with [me] just works better on my forum... also it no longer needs a space following the code to work, so it can be the last thing on the line. For example this wouldn't work with the original code: /me.
I can upload the changes I made if the author wants but anyone who has a basic understanding of programming should be able to make the changes. I removed the * and the font color change too. Next issue- how do we get it to work in the thread title and other areas like the [you] code does? |
does the mod works with vB 4.x.x and is the code available at your site?
