RSS Feed into my Forum not updating

I have 3 feeds into my forum. One is new. It only posted 1 thread and no updates follows.
It is supposed to post a new thread on a daily basis. It is a Wine of the Day feed.

here is the feed:>
http://www.erobertparker.com/RSSfeeds/WOTD_RSS.aspx

I tried resetting the feed. Deleted and re-entered. Posted it to a different forum. Run it manually, but cannot get it to update.

Any thouights?

Are the other two feeds running just fine? Have you checked your error_logs to see if anything was posted there? Does the user have permission to post in that forum and create threads?

Oddily enough I am having a similar problems, I have had a feed reading threads into my site for some time now. Recently I discovered that from around November last year it was no longer adding new threads.

After a little investigation I haven't found the solution, however I have found the following:
  • If I reset the feed then it works on the next scheduled run or if I run it manually from the RSS manager page.
  • Deleting and re-adding the feed doesn't make any difference.
  • The feed is configured to check every 2 hours, however the last date checked does not move on from the date/time of the first check after a reset.

So right now I periodically reset and run the job, and when I find some time I will investigate further.

I have not yet raised a ticket at vb.com as I know the first response will be disable all mods, which is something I don't want to do as I have no mods that use rss hooks and as mentioned I haven't yet had a chance to fully investigate the issue.

Hi Lynne

Yes the other two runs fine. Those are from different sites. So I added anorher feed from the site of the Wine of the Day feed into another forum on SA Wine Forum, and that one works fine too.

Perhaps the issue is somehow because it is a feed that is updated daily, but the souirce of the feed doesn't show the history on its website. It only shows the Wine of the Day?

I checked the error logs and there is nothing there. And yes the user has the necessary permissions.

Mine doesn't even work if I reset.

I'm having the same problem, the RSS feed manager worked fine until I upgraded to 3.81, the cron job seems to be working, but it no longer posts any feeds into the forum that I've set it for, the only way to do it now is to manually go into Rss feed Manager' click the rest box, save them manually run the schedule. I have work to do, so can't sit at my pc all day every day doing it manually.

Is there a fix for this anywhere?

Lynne 03-18-2009 02:18 PM

You should look at your error_logs and see if there is anything in there.

Is the Last Checked time changing for the feeds?

Delilahs 03-18-2009 06:11 PM

Lynne, the last checked time is continually changing, so the cron job is working fine, it just isn't posting the feeds into the forums like it used to before I installed 3.80/1

Have you looked in the error_logs? Something others have said works (and I don't know why, but...) is to delete ALL the feeds from the RSS Feed Manager, then add them back one at a time. After you add one, make sure it runs without you having to do it manually. Then add another, let it run without you doing it, then another, etc. Again, check the error_logs to see that you aren't getting some out_of_memory error or similar when the task is running.

Delilahs 03-18-2009 07:39 PM

lynne, where would we find the error-logs?

Lynne 03-18-2009 09:03 PM

error_logs are usually in a /logs folder at the same level as your /public_html folder. At least, that is where they have been for me on my servers. You may have to ask your host where they are.

.

this is exactly what I am encountering.

SoloX 06-22-2009 12:08 AM

^^ anyone has any solution? I am having to manually reset the feeds and then when I click on run scheduled task, i get the feeds posted.

John Diver 07-31-2012 04:14 PM

I have the exact same problem....

I am having to manually reset constantly. It is getting tedious having to login everyday to my sites just to run the scheduled RSS posts, especially since I can't do it daily and then posts are missing...

I was told to put in "unlimited" because its not getting all my feed posts but every time I do that, it resets to 0 when I have to run manually....

MrEyes 03-29-2013 10:05 AM

4 years on, I still have this problem :)

Did you ever try disabling them all yet?
I had similar issue with the Feeds until I disabled a "Prevent Posting of Links" mod.
