Opt forums out of "New Posts" and RSS Feeds

1 Attachment(s)
This mod was designed so that posts in certain forums would not show up when clicking the new posts link or in RSS feeds.

This comes in handy when you have syndicated data in certain forums, or just do not want posts to be so accessible (i.e. political forums that are off topic).

This product was developed for Andy R from Social Knowledge and released here for others to enjoy. Special thanks to BamaStangGuy for creating the prototype and idea!

Merjawy 03-12-2009 08:35 AM

I've always wondered why this is not built in vB !!!

Thanks

great, great plug. thanks

this is brilliant if you have a few forums that are fed by rss bots - so they dont annoy members by showing hundreds of posts when they click New

Brilliant - thanks

DanielN24 04-24-2009 07:33 AM

Amazing thank you.

Cooleyvol 05-13-2009 12:38 PM

Does this allow the user to choose which forums to opt out like the past version?

subnet_rx 05-13-2009 05:32 PM

Can't you just set the forums to not be searched, and that would opt them out of new posts?

petertdavis 05-19-2009 06:36 PM

I wish you would have made this so it has a field where I can just type which forums I want exclused, like most other addons, comma separated like "2,4,8,9,45,70" because when I add new forums to my site they don't show up on the list in this hack and I can't figure out why.

Hi nice one.

Something similar for vb4 one day ???????

thanks:up:

BirdOPrey5 08-28-2010 03:29 AM

Could I get a better description of what this does? I understand it blocks RSS Threads from showing up in New posts and Todays Posts but it's the last part of this line I don't get:

Thanks.

nice work, been looking for this.

thank you

SpeedyHire 09-12-2010 08:07 AM

strange problem might be,
We have a few member reporting that they see 69 new posts or what ever the amount is.
When they click on the new posts they only get shown say 4.
so it seems to be working halfway.
As in does not show the rss feed posts, but is adding to the new post count.

It seems to be not working with this mod

i know this was mad for an older vb, but still works well on 3.8 any chance of a possible fix ??

anyone else seen this

regards

speedy

mapleleaffans 06-12-2011 05:14 AM

Installed and sounds like a great mod! How long until the mod takes place? I still see forums that I added to this in "New Posts"

qubed 09-15-2011 04:40 PM

Also looking for a vb4 alternative or would love to see this compatible with vb4. Fingers crossed.

Crossbow 09-18-2011 11:57 PM

Un-installed. Was looking for a mod to allow us to pick what threads to allow.
