Tech Forums - Blue & Silver theme

1 Attachment(s)
This theme is a simple blue and silver theme that requires only a few files to be uploaded. The Tech Forum theme was originally custom bought as a design for TechForumz.com but I have never used the skin.
  1. Download
  2. Install
If you use this skin, please leave the credit at the bottom of the template intact. Just upload the "techforums" directory to your forum root and then import the XML file.

Here is a screenshot of the theme in action:

Nice simple style. Thanks.

AzH 02-19-2009 04:51 PM

Might be nice(r) to change out the default icons for something else.

Can you explain what you mean a little more please - do you want the category title aligned to the right hand side?

NAZIA 02-20-2009 09:10 PM

Did you also upload the image files? It doesn't look like they are uploaded, or they are in the wrong location (/techforums).

Edit: I had a look at your forums (here) and it does look like the images aren'y uploaded to the right location. Just upload tham and it will work :)

Ian Cunningham 02-22-2009 08:44 AM

BTW, please let me know if this would be any use in 3.5/3.6/3.7 format and I will do that - as it is easy enough to do.

Thanks

AroundTheWorld 02-23-2009 12:44 PM

Thanks for the style.

I'm wondering how to center my banner... Please use step by step directions and assume I know nothing ;)

WhiteNewsNow 02-24-2009 12:21 AM

Looks like I spent $35 bucks for nothing at completevB for a skin. Yours is the exact look I was going for as a default skin. How great it looks on vb.org! I would love to see it on my site however, I believe there is an issue with the .xml file in your latest upload. Not to kick a gifthourse in the mouth but, I felt I should say something.

Tried to ACP import but it says "Invalid File Specified" for the "vbulletin-style.xml"

Not sure what to do.

As well there are no suggestions for where to upload "1.jpg" Its a rather large file and states that it is windows media player file type.

I'm sure this will work at a later date so thanks for your hard work.

WhiteNewsNow 02-24-2009 01:37 AM

UPDATE

Figured out what the .jpg file is. Looks nice! If I could only install .xml file.

Safari 02-24-2009 03:29 AM

where do I upload them? I haven't added styles since my really old 3.5 vb.

Ian Cunningham 02-24-2009 06:39 AM

The 1.jpg file is just a preview - I'll rename that in the next release :)

The XML file works ok for me on my test site. To upload it:
  • Log into the AdminCP
  • Click Styles & Templates
  • Then Download/Upload Styles
  • In the "Import Style XML File" section browse for the XML file on your computer
  • Then click "import" at the bottom of the screen.

WhiteNewsNow 02-25-2009 02:14 AM

Ian,

I have no idea why it would not upload but I went back and tried it again. Boom! It worked like a charm. Thanks very much for replying so quickly with help!

I have actually made it my default skin I like it so much.

vB.org rules! :)

natbaines 02-25-2009 02:01 PM

This is a nice style. I have installed it fine, but the style is only visible on the forums and not on the vbadvanced home page. How do I sort this?

Could you post a link to the forum please and I'll take a look - I don't have any experience with vB Advanced but I can try :)

natbaines 02-25-2009 02:57 PM

Hi Ian,

The style is called blue and is not the default.

The site is www.Christadelphiandiscussion.com

a mouthful I know!

I have slowly been editing the vbadvanced home page image links so they point at the new style images, but I can't seem to edit the navbar or module wrappers.

Any help would be brilliant.

grabacontroller 02-25-2009 03:34 PM

Do you have the psd file for the logo?

natbaines 02-25-2009 03:59 PM

Everything appears fine now...

I reinstalled vbadvanced and it seems to have picked up the style.

Looks great by the way!!

I'm not sure I understand - do you want the code to add a banner to the top right corner of the site?

You can change them from the style manager overview page, I guess it's the alt1/alt2 styles you mean?

The techforums directory should be uploaded to your forum root directory :) If you post a link to your site I will take a look.

AES-BMA 03-19-2009 08:08 PM

Oh ok. I just had the folder in the wrong place. Thanks!
