EMERENGCY cat help needed!

Well my family has this cat.

Got her as a kitten. :)

And now... :(

She is looking for some loving...

This cat is driving me up the WALL, it wont SHUT UP!

Do any of you cat lovers have any solution to this?

It's not my cat so I'm not paying to have fixed. :erm:

nexialys 02-11-2009 07:08 AM

let her go outside, she will find a mate... then she will have babies, and your parents will be forced to understand how it is important to fix her...

seriously, there are volunteers in your sector who are helping people like you, do a search IN REAL LIFE!

GSeybold 02-11-2009 08:26 AM

She's horny and she'll kept doing this until she is fixed, which is the responsible thing to do. If not, then give her away to someone who will. :)

Has she got toys and a scratching post?

If she hasnt been 'fixed' she needs to be, otherwise you may end up with half a dozen kittens. Which in the long run will cost more than the Op ;)

If she is in season now there is not a lot you can do

dismas 02-11-2009 11:26 AM

Call up a vet and ask for the number of a spay/neuter clinic. Many cities have dedicated clinics just for spays/neuters that are open just a couple of days a week and are also cheaper than regular vets. They can charge less because the vets that do the operations are volunteering their time.

You say it's your family's cat. You're part of the family. Do the right thing and get it fixed.

Either find her a mate and deal with the kittens every six months or get her fixed. Having her spayed is the better solution in the long run. Both for your sanity and the cat's health. Once in season, cats really don't go out of season until they get pregnant. There will be a week or two of quiet here and there but its not a real respite.

If you live in the United States, call the local animal rescues and ask for information about spay and neuter clinics in the area. Usually you can find places that offer them inexpensively. You might even be able to find a free clinic that does this. Where I live it costs $35.00 to have a cat spayed if she is out of season... $45 if she is in season.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Obviously you've never heard a cat in heat..... ?? ROFL Can make you pretty desperate for peace and quiet. We had a neighbor a few years back whos cat would get under our house and screech and moan at 3 am. NOT FUN. No sleep is to be had when a cat is like that.

I agree that the responsible thing would be to have her fixed. All animals should be if they are not going to be bred.

There are clinics, like the op's mention that do it for 35$ in my county. I too would call the animal rescue. Any local vet should be able to give you the number to a clinic too.

kevcj 02-11-2009 03:49 PM

Contact a local animal shelter, they should be able to help with the cost of having her "fixed." Sometimes vets will donate their time to these kinds of projects. So even if the shelter can not help with the expenses, they might be able to tell you the name of a good vet in your area.

KTBleeding 02-11-2009 04:31 PM

There is nothing worse than a cat in heat. It's the most disgusting, annoying things I have ever had to live with. Almost as annoying as the cat owner for NOT getting her spayed.

Magnumutz 02-11-2009 08:50 PM

Thank god my cat's been castrated.
When she had baby cats (LOL), she was so aggressive...

KW802 02-11-2009 09:00 PM

I can not be the only one reading this thinking "Cartman?!" :D

unenergizer 02-11-2009 09:58 PM

This cat needs to stop or something bad will happen. We might be eating special burgers one night for supper!

just kidding

I'm not sure what state you guys live in, but here in south-east Texas it cost $150.00 USD. Now if the price was $35 then it wouldn't be a problem I'd just take her and get it done. If I could give this cat away I would do it in a heart beat! Now I'm not much of a cat lover so locking this cat up in the garage and me vacating upstairs is the only relieve I have had since she has gone on her love rampage.

I assure you I don't want to harm the animal, I just want her to.. well BE quite.

Did you contact any of the shelters like recommended above or just the local vet? If just the local vet, then of course the price is going to be a lot highter.

In all seriousness, finding the cat a new home, whether before or after you get her fixed, sounds like it might be in the best interests for both you & the cat.

Its not my cat to get rid of.

Go to the vet and get meds to lower your cats oestrogen level. You will need to give them once a week.

Either that or hire Magnumutz!

Are you aware that the cries of horny cats, attract male cats miles away?
You'll never be alone again!

puertoblack2003 02-12-2009 03:23 AM

Something is wrong here. If "it" can be castrated then "it" can not have had babies. ;) Castrating is something done to male animals.

(Sorry for pointing this out as i know english is not your first language, but this was a funny mistake).

Alfa1 02-12-2009 06:51 AM

He must have a hermaphrodite cat!

Must of been a strange cat ??:eek:

Magnumutz 02-15-2009 03:43 PM

Aggressive is similar to protective... like all good moms :p

davidw 02-15-2009 06:52 PM

We have a 10 month old Balinese that went into heat right before getting neutered - that fix didn't stop him. The only thing that has seemed to help a little is a 6-month old tortoiseshell female that doesn't particularly like him too well.
