Email notification of Visitor Message
My request is a mod which sends Email notification of new visitor messages on user-profiles.
The mod should give users the option to enable / disable email notification of visitor messages in their user control panel. There should also be an option for admins to change the text of the Email message sent to users. I am willing to donate $10 through Paypal to the person who can contribute this mod. Thanks. |
I'm with you Sparklywater. I can add a little dough to the mix if it is done :D
|
I will look into creating this next week.
Good call. |

Other coders are also welcome to contribute, I'll take the one that comes first :) |
Well, the first one that is first and works correctly, right? ;)
|
yes, I thought about that when posting, but then thought it was too obvious to mention. :)
Now that you bring it up, I will make clear that the mod obviously will be tested to see that it works to a satisfactory standard. |
I hope someone can get this mod done soon, it's quite an important feature on my forum.
|
This mod already exists

TNCclubman,
That mod has many features that are required (such as 'opt out' and customizable message among a few others and I don't believe that Shishir has the time to add these features to the current mod and that it why this thread was started. :D |

Oh this would be a great add-on to have! Assuming members can opt out and we can customize the notification message like you mentioned...
Good suggestion! :) |

My busy recent schedule and schedule ahead will result in this being added to my to do list which wont be started soon unfortunetly.
If its needed fast your best bet is to ask a coder to do this in the paid requests forum. |

Even worse is that other coders or developers here on vB.org might've passed up the opportunity because they saw that you were looking into doing it and didn't want to step on your toes. Hopefully, any developer/coder that takes on this request will commit publicly only after they (schedule-wise and ability-wise) confirm that they can. |

Can someone please give me the link to where the paid requests are posted? |

Thanks sparklywater! :D
I'm going to be in contact with him  |
Its worth noting that inside the visitormessage.php script there is a comment (from the vB devs) that email notification should be added in so I'd suspect we see this sooner or later. Not that it helps people for today...
I should also note that visitormessage.php is missing a hook in the ajax routine which means either a code edit has to be made for this OR the email is sent before the message is truly verified as being posted. Neither is ideal. |

sparklywater,
Does your 'paid' option still work and work correctly on 3.8.4? |

I'm using vB 3.7.2 and have not upgraded to 3.8.4 |
