but could someone tell me that the type of feed mentioned like rss, exml, rss1, rss2 etc, what does it mean and what does respective type would do?

Nadeemjp 01-30-2009 12:10 AM

it is showing [?] before every forum and category....why so?
even though i excluded some forums, it still is showing this mark against every single forum:(

vBulletin Options / Sorky13 - RSS Feed Links - V1.0.3 / Allow link to be shown for
Use "Selected" or "UnSelected"
vBulletin Options / Sorky13 - RSS Feed Links - V1.0.3 / Selected/UnSelected Forums for the RSS Link (comma separated ForumID list)
2,5,6 <would only do these forums if the previous option was "Selected" or would not do these forums if the previous option was "UnSelected">

I see you have the answer... In a nutshell, secured forum cannot be accessed through unsecured means.

You don't need to edit the XML, just change the option...
vBulletin Options / Sorky13 - RSS Feed Links - V1.0.3 / Position of the RSS icon

I use RTL template, so when I choose "far to the right of title" it actually put it on wrong side, before the title...
So, I want to change it into "far to the left of title" (because the other 2 options dont give me that).
Thank you.

If you only want to change the text, you can go to...
Languages & Phrases / Phrase Manager / Sorky13_RSSFeedLinkIMGLocationOptions_Right

luck11 03-25-2009 10:11 PM

No... not just the text...
What I am saying is that in RTL template, when you choose "far right", then the direction is wrong.
My question is how to make the icon appear in the far left of the column and not the far right.

Sent a PM with a modified product.xml that should do what you need - need to know if it works and then I'll publish it.

user12345 04-01-2009 06:23 AM

Hello. Will this mod give an RSS button to subscribe to the WHOLE forum? I need the subscription for each category, but want to also provide subscription to the entire forum, which would include ALL categories. Please let me know if this mod will handle that. Thanks.

hotwheels 04-01-2009 01:16 PM

Very nice job........thanks for the work you put into this mod.

duditas 04-01-2009 02:32 PM

Yes - Use the option to automatically include sub-forums in the RSS Feed.

No idea about itunes or podcast - This PlugIn simply makes the existing external.php functionality a little but easier to access ;)

You may find something by searching for "external.php" in these or the .com forum. Or ask in the general forums.

Akakios1 04-10-2009 02:27 PM

Great job! My members really love it, thanks very much

flipstyle 04-27-2009 05:44 PM

Thanks. Installed with no problems. Good job.

A suggestion: Make an option for All Forums Except.

Been there, done that... Set the option "Allow link to be shown for" as "UnSelected" and enter the forums you don't want in the "Selected/UnSelected Forums for the RSS Link (comma separated ForumID list)" option

;)

mgcom 05-16-2009 03:50 PM

nice one

snoopy5 05-18-2009 02:30 PM

I got it working. But new postings do not display on the externak site.

what is the refresh time period for the feed?

I.E. if a new posting in a subforum is posted, how long does it take to be automatically displayed on an external site?

I presume you realize the RSS readers actually request from the forum, as opposed to the forum sending out updates... Check your RSS reader for how often it checks.

Also be aware that private forums or posts are not available to the RSS feed - That's just the way it is.

donwon 05-19-2009 01:59 PM

Hello I have installed this mod and thank you for it.

However, where the image should be is just the text and I have uploaded the image to the server with the correct name/title.

More importantly when you click the RSS feed link, all that comes up is a blank white page.

Thank you for your help please.

Love this mod, but isn't it possible to change this? My members are begging for it :/

By this I mean even when a member is logged in who has access to a private forum he cannot see the rss feed when clicking the rss icon. Just a blank page.

I just saw someone else with a similar issue - I believe you simply need to add a "/" at the start of your image option setting (eg: images/misc/rss_small.gif -> /images/misc/rss_small.gif)

Most likely a private forum - Send me a link if you want me to have a look

The "external.php" file doesn't check the login as it is designed to be called from an RSS reader, which of course does not login :( Making private forums viewable to RSS would bypass security and would not be a good idea.
