How do I disable mail features?
I've got spammers somehow using vbulletin email system to send spam.... I want to disable the entire email system without disturbing new message notifications or private message notifications, or signup emails....
How do I completely disable member to member mail....? |
Are you talking about email or PMs?
|
I'm getting thousands of these:
From: "Domain Name Forum" Auto-Submitted: auto-generated X-Mailer: vBulletin Mail via PHP name, This is a message from name ( mailto: ) from the Domain Name Forum The message is as follows: comment3, Domain Name Forum takes no responsibility for messages sent through its system. I'm thinking it is the member to member email function? |
I have no idea. I've never gotten anything like that and don't know what you should do to stop it.

Look at the picture I posted... I should be able to turn this off without it effecting the new post notification... This seems silly that it is set up this way? No? If I shut it off, no one will know about new posts.... Isn't there a way to shut off all the above without having to stop the new post notifications? I already have the email to friend disabled in the user permissions area, but there is still email spam going through the system to members.

I found out that it was the outside and direct use of sendmail.php that was being used.... Which is the contact link. I enabled the recaptcha feature and I think that is working now.... BUt if all else fails, I'll just remove the sendmail.php file.

Marco told me vbulletin doesnt have a sendmail.php file. Check your suspect files from your admin CP.
If you didnt add the sendmail.php then I would delete the entire directory (hidden files) and reupload the directory from fresh or secure back up. Speaking from experience LOL Been there done that. My attack came in through my archive directory. Bastards blasted over 300K in spam before I figured it out. Check your root servers mailque too. You may have some bottle necked up in there. Delete them all before they go out. Mine was spam in french. LOL |
I'm sorry, my mistake, the file name is sendmessage.php :erm:
|
That is correct. The vBulletin file that handles Contact Us is sendmessage.php, not sendmail.php. Most likely this file has been uploaded to your server to spam.
Can you post a copy of this file? |
Both vb forums I happened to check have the file..... I'll upload it.
|
File removed. No need to upload a standard vB file (and against the License Agreement). Was only needed if you had a sendmail.php file.
|
I had that feeling that you were thinking the other file..... ok thanks... I'll remember that rule and won't uploads and vb files in the future....
