Fricken Chickens Thread

What's your stance on chickens. Why did the chicken cross the road? why is it only chickens cross the road jokes are told? Do you eat chicken? Have you ever plucked a chicken? What came first the chicken or the egg?

Are you a chicken? would you like to be a chicken? Thread welcomes chicken talk and other related chicken type banter. Pictures are welcomed, as do captions to brighten are day.

Let the thread commence. :)

Chicken goes first, because eggs can't cross the road on their feet...

I'll debate that eggs don't have feet. Points to image....

i know about eggs with feet, i was refering to the ability to cross a road without knowing why... the egg will wait 'til his mother is at the other side, safe, before crossing it... lol

A chicken crossing the road is like "poultry" in motion.
Personally, I think the egg came before the chicken and I'm crying "foul" on this thread haha :p

It's all finger lickin good, feather or not, I'll be not screaming foul, not just yet anyway. Who can forget the greatest chicken to grace our screens. I adore you Foghorn Leghorn.

I think these insignias are great that the chicken companies come up with. As for the "chicken pox". Arghhhhhh. I hate it. It was one of the memories in my childhood I'll never forget. scratching all the while covered in lotion which didn't bring one ounce of relief.

And... A chickens worst nightmare....

A chicken-like creature came first, of course. It gave birth without an egg, like (most) mammals do, and evolved over time to wrap it's young in a protective egg casing.

It's a little more complex than that and we would need to go back a little further on the origins of mammals where they weren't actually mammals nor reptiles. A debate I would love to get into but won't as the agenda here is fun. And of course chicken related.

nexialys 01-16-2009 04:21 PM

hum, can i comment about the statement of day #1 in that example ?!

Shelley_c 01-16-2009 04:24 PM

I won't comment on it the thread could potentially get ugly. I thought the image was funny so I posted.

Years ago, i rescued a chicken from the next door neigbours, They were an indian family and the guy had bought home a LIVE chichen for dinner, somehow between getting its head chopped off, it managed to get into my garden, I only knew about it when the guy came round from next door with a 6 inch carving knife and a plastic bag, wanting his chicken.

In the end i gave him ?5, and i kept the Chicken myself, Built it a little pen at the bottom of my garden and had it for about 2 or 3 years before it passed away natually.

I called it "Cocky" :D poor little thing, i remember buying sweetcorn for it :p

Lived its last few years in super comfort, poor little thing

My great gran rescued 2 little chicks from being slaughtered unfortunately in an accident during a dinner party one of them got stood on. Stories told by my parents was that everytime at dinner the chicken would jump onto my great grans lap and get fed like a child. I only remembered a moment ago as i read your post.
