Thanks!

cafenetland 01-14-2009 02:50 PM

let me try it.

sounds interesting

cafenetland 01-14-2009 03:16 PM

i dont really understand what it does.

i thought its creating full topics which opens by the RSS manager.

i mean users dont need to click "more" to read the whole content.

This hack just allows you to post items of RSS feed as posts of the thread. By default you can post items of RSS feed as announcements or threads of the forum.

This hack does not change anything else.

P.S. If you want to get all content from RSS feed of vBulletin forums then you can try to add "&fulldesc=1" to the end of the link.
For example:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=1&fulldesc=1</font>

7lanet 01-15-2009 01:19 PM

I am trying to use the rss with Http://www.portaliz.com/forum

But not shows topic only topic title
Use

{feed:title}

{rss:content:encoded}

zCarot 01-16-2009 08:09 AM

This RSS feed does not provide description. You can not get it for this feed without grabbing HTML.</font>

jiteshdubey11 01-27-2009 10:17 AM

zelnik 02-11-2009 07:27 AM

Great just what I was looking for!

Nadeemjp 03-14-2009 11:40 PM

You upgraded from what version to 3.8.2? I'm running it on 3.8.0 just fine. Make sure you are running the lastest version and that you read the instructions carefully (there were some changes from the previous version).

This will be the best hack for vB ("a hack that could force the full contents display from the RSS feed.")

Try to delete this mod and repeat all installation steps.

BiZiMDiYaR
Yea.. Content must be unique for search engines. I suggest to close threads with RSS content from guests.</font>

BiZiMDiYaR 04-07-2009 08:21 PM

Hi,

But I have vbseo.. so I assume that is added in the sitemap... or maybe I need to let vbseo to ignore that post or so... any suggestion ?

Thanks.

daddel80 06-10-2009 12:58 PM

Hi,

Is there a way of getting the WHOLE list of the RSS Feed. VB only passes the new or changed topics. As i want to read a complete Top Ten list i'm getting always gaps in the numeration.

Is it possible to implement this in this hack as an additional function?

Thanks!

Sorry, but no.

RetroDreams 07-06-2009 03:09 AM

Developer: Do you have plans on porting this to vB4 when it comes out? This is probably one of the most elegant and useful hacks out there. Should come STANDARD in vBulletin.

mostafa10601 07-13-2009 03:47 PM

i uninstalled and then re-installed. but nothing happened. ..!

plz help me.

signTEK 07-25-2009 03:33 PM

That's just what I wanted ... But the AddOn doesn't check if either there are new posts or not - what it does is post the specified number of news, even if they aren't new.

So basically it adds the same 5 posts every 10 minutes. Can someone help me with that?

Thx and greetings from Germany ...

Ava-Kyrillos 08-18-2009 08:44 AM

First thanks a lot for your greet hack

please help me in 3 questions about this

1- how I can know the rss link for any website i want to copy from it.

2- how i can protect my website rss from copy to othe website.

3- how i can read rss for member from a forum and don't read all rss

marshal_ramdev 08-18-2009 10:53 AM

thanks

drsli 09-19-2009 08:53 PM

Thank you very much for this useful enhancement! :) This is obviously the solution to my headaches with the floods of rss-announcements showing up in the unread/new-posts-summaries. So now I?m able to include forums with rss-feeds and regular content into the newposts-summaries without being dominated by the rss-infos.

drsli 09-20-2009 02:38 PM

I hope I installed it properly. I performed all the subsequent edits from the readme and installed the xml.
I checked the options "Merge many RSS items to one post" and "Merge with old post" and forced the post to keep the old dateline.
The initial sticky thread is created accordingly. A little issue: the title of the first entry doesn´t catch the markup - it´s always plain text.

There is a double-entry to find furthermore.

The second automatic entry with 6 items is always rejected by the database-system with the following error-message:

MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '
1253460094,
'News was added',
'CNN corresponde' at line 8
Error Number : 1064

Maybe I edited the php-files not correctly?

Where would this edit happen?

segwayon 09-21-2009 04:35 AM

Question related to RRS feeds and VB. I use a Google news source, but the RSS stories each come with this line:

HTML Code:

<img alt="" height="1" width="1" />
Is there a way to fix that in the AdminCP?

AndrewRich 10-18-2009 04:45 PM

I had to completely re-install this mod after upgrading to 3.8.3 PL1. After reinstalling, still works fine.

Clayton 11-25-2009 02:49 PM

would this work in 3.6 .. please?

zCarot 11-26-2009 09:35 AM

<font color="DarkSlateBlue">Clayton

Yep.
3.6.x, 3.7.x and 3.8.x</font>

Clayton 11-26-2009 09:50 AM

Thank you .. will delve a little deeper shortly

Thanks

I'm not sure if you've installed vB4 yet, but it also seems to work on there also. (I've just done limited testing of it on my test board, but it worked.)

metrika 12-04-2009 03:35 PM

I still dont know what it does

Clayton 12-04-2009 03:44 PM

metrika .. instead of creating a new thread for each rss post, it places the rss posts in to one thread

so if you have a subject thread called Life in Honk Kong and your rss feed is from Life in Hong Kong the posts will all be made in the Life in Honk Kong thread and not many different threads

Hope this helps
