google.com

Infopro 01-13-2009 11:43 AM

Reboot your PC. IE has crashed.

Marco van Herwaarden 01-13-2009 11:53 AM

Actually most likely explorer.exe crashed, not iexplorer.exe.

Windowskey-R / explorer.exe <Enter>

Gio~Logist 01-13-2009 04:35 PM

Yep. Just end the explorer.exe task and then restart it. (CTR+ALT+DELETE->Processes)

iBardia 01-13-2009 06:23 PM

I don't see that task.. This is very strange to me

nexialys 01-13-2009 06:27 PM

you play too much with your pc... reformat... ROFL

.....?
What?

Magnumutz 01-13-2009 06:44 PM

Ctrl+Alt+Delete for Windows Task Manager -> click the "New Task..." button -> Type in "explorer" (without the quotes of course).

Voila!

If that's not the problem, someone made you a prank :D

nexialys 01-13-2009 07:44 PM

or you try to have support for a bug on Windows while you are on Linux.. lol

Can you stop that..?

nexialys 01-13-2009 08:40 PM

nope, sorry, you started it...

first you are on a vBulletin community, not a Windows Support site

second, you're in the lounge, relaxed discussions, not related to internet or vB...

third, your situation is funny, and you do not have a hint on what the others are suggesting you to do -- because it's not a Windows support forum.

Shelley_c 01-13-2009 08:52 PM

Ahhhh comeon Lets play fair. Did any of the above resolve your problem ibardia?

iBardia 01-13-2009 08:54 PM

Is there a way to make a new user without using the start menu?

It doesn't look like it. I dont understand some, but the ones I did didn't work

Shelley_c 01-13-2009 09:00 PM

Did you try what gio and marco suggested? If not, try that. Scan your hardrive for anything malicious files and if that fails visit a dedicated site where members are able to give more suggestions.

You could always revert back to your latest restore point, other than that you may need to do what nexy stated and format.

Visit another forum and maybe you'll receive better support as this forum isn't supposed to be a support forum for 3rd party software. Or maybe it is the rules change on a daily basis.

Yes. Explorer.exe opens the missing things, but every 5 seconds, they go again, and it keeps doing that.

How can I open the Restore thing?
What can I open it with? PLEASE tell me

Shelley_c 01-13-2009 09:34 PM

I've never used it and you should visit a dedicated support site before you try chance it by reverting back to your last working restore point. Control Panel >> System >> System restore tab. Like I stated, visit a dedicated forum and ask your questions giving as much info as possible to the people that may be able to help you.

ok iBardia, it's clear you are neither english or french speaking... are you?!

this is looking like a joke, you act like a character...

iBardia 01-13-2009 10:58 PM

Okay, well I have been looking on a lot of sites and I asked on Yahoo Answers. Somebody responded, and it still doesn't work. i tried everything

Trip 01-13-2009 11:33 PM

Which version of windows are you using?
What was the last move you made before you lost your desktop?
I'm going to assume you tried re-booting the system in safe mode?
Have you tried restarting explorer??

Close all Explorer windows.

Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, and then click Task Manager.

In the Windows Task Manager application that appears, select New Task (Run) from the File menu.

Type Explorer and click Ok.

Then why don't you consider re-installing windows?

And you Mr. Nexialys are acting like a troll. You have not added any normal response in this thread. If you have nothing of value to add, maybe you should restrain yourself from posting if someone is in need of help.

I tried yesterday, but it tells me to put in Disk Two. I only have one disk.

nexialys 01-14-2009 10:35 AM

if you do not have Disk 2, maybe it's because what you had installed was by default on your computer and what you have on Disk is not an official version... you will have to contact your reseller to see what's going on with the CDs....

Ok, thank you.

I have three recovery CDs. But two are to recover programs.

nexialys 01-14-2009 11:00 AM

Are they official Microsoft CD with license on them ?!... Windows is "usually" provided in a single CD, that is the official... when it's "recover CDs", "usually" it's from the computer provider, like Dell, or HP, and may have some missing parts if your reseller installed it himself without giving you the full package. You're always supposed to receive the Microsoft version of the OS, so you may be able to request it from your reseller...

Shelley_c 01-14-2009 05:18 PM

Normally you get one cd or atleast that's all I every got. Saying that, I purchased 3 laptops and none of them came with a cd only a license number embedded within a sleeve. I always thought HP provided a copy through their packages.

Anyway, what's the latest on the icons and start menu disappearing situation? Hopefully, by now you either resolved the problem or you formatted your drive.

MTGDarkness 01-14-2009 05:25 PM

Delete System 32. Works every time.

DISCLAIMER: DO NOT DELETE SYSTEM 32. Unless you are running on a mac.

iBardia 01-14-2009 05:49 PM

Well, tonight I am going to try to re-do it.
