List Reported Posts

As of 24 Nov 2017 this modification has been withdrawn.

This is something I have been using for the last few years on Cable Forum, it displays a list of reported posts for both staff and members to see.

The list shows ;

Reported Date/Time
Reporter (Staff Only)
Thread Title
Post Number
Actioned Date/Time
Moderator Who Actioned.

For this system to work you must have vbulletin set-up to create a new thread for each report.

On the reported posts page members can click on the Actioned Moderator name to see any comment left by the moderator.

A report is considered as actioned by the first staff member to reply in the report thread. The comments are read from that first post (by default it reads anything inside quote tags).

Staff can click on the reporter to be taken directly to the report thread.

Staff Usergroups are defined in the mods settings - also the number of days to show reports for is defined in the settings.

Note: For this to function, certain phrases must be edited as per the instructions, if you fail to do this, it will not display correctly.

If enabled, this will also attempt to add a link to your Quick Links or Community Links. There is also an option to prefix the link path if you use something like CMPS.

History:

v3.8.001 : First Release for vB 3.8.
v3.8.002 - Added auto links with choice of Quick Links or Community Links.
v3.8.003 - Fix hard coded path in thread links.
v3.8.004 - Updated to allow staff usergroups to be secondary groups.
v3.8.005 - Internal update, not released.
v3.8.006 - Fix deleted post and lowercase bugs.

nice one this will help a lot for me .. tagged now .. will install later

ssslippy 01-10-2009 05:22 PM

Question, is it possible to have this only show to the user posts they have reported?

Paul M 01-10-2009 07:10 PM

No.

Big-K 01-11-2009 07:28 AM

Tagged. Can you make this also show the poster of the reported post?

Paul M 01-11-2009 01:33 PM

Sorry, no, I wont be altering the display.

Including the culprits name would have made this inch-perfect for my site. Next version perhaps?

Paul M 01-11-2009 11:15 PM

Sorry, but nope.

Like I said, I wont be altering it.

This is written for my site, and Im happy with the current display. I simply decided to share it (as is).

SnowBot 01-11-2009 11:19 PM

Very demanding these ppl hey paul..lol

Anyway i unistalled your old version ready for this one :) Cheers.

Paul M 01-12-2009 06:49 AM

Old version ?

Ive never released this before afaik.

Big-K 01-14-2009 04:19 PM

Don't mind the demanding Showboat,..sorry Snowbot :)

maxicep 01-15-2009 07:23 AM

i edited certain phrases and imported the product but i didnt see any link or change on report system. How can i use this now :)

p.s: Member groups are correct.

Paul M 01-15-2009 10:15 AM

Im amazed no one else has asked that :) I forgot this needs a manual link creating atm.

To view the page you need to create a link to misc.php?do=reported

I'll update it in the next few days to auto create a link in Quick Links or the Community Links.

Big-K 01-17-2009 09:05 PM

Hi,

I cant find the phrases
reportpost_newthread
reportprivatemessage_newthread

Terrie 01-17-2009 10:28 PM

This is a great mod thank you!

One thing tho... The links to the post and reporter
come up like this:
http://www.yoursitename.com/board/sh...344#post203344

My forums are in a directory called "forums" not "board"
is there a way to change this?

Paul M 01-18-2009 12:15 PM

Hmmm, I didnt realise /board/ was hard coded in there - thats because this was written purely for my forums originally, I've taken that out for 3.8.003

Terrie 01-18-2009 04:44 PM

Absolutely wonderful.... Thank you :)

MentaL 01-23-2009 08:25 PM

you sir are a gentleman

Stifler 02-02-2009 06:24 AM

this def needs to have a display for which forum the reported post is in and then it would be perfect for larger sites with lots of mods for different sections..

Paul M 02-02-2009 08:18 AM

Point noted, but its not high on my priority list.

jscieza 02-03-2009 10:55 PM

Hello Paul,

Just a quick question. Reported posts are now coming with this format (as required per your mod):

Quote:

The following post has been reported.

Poster : username

Thread : thread title

Reason : report reason

Original Post (Link) :

message
When I click on the thread or message link, it loads on the same page. Is there any way to make this to open in a new page?

Why? Well, moderators are required to reply in the thread of the report commenting what they has done with the reported post and since the post link is being opened on the same page, they will need to look again for the thread of report in order to post what they has done.

Hope you can help me. Please excuse me for my bad english, that's not my language.

Thank you,
Jonathan

Paul M 02-03-2009 11:04 PM

Sorry, it uses the standard vb post bb code, which does not appear to open the link in a new page. On most browsers you can just hold down the SHIFT key and then click on the link.

jscieza 02-04-2009 02:02 PM

Hello Paul,

I see. No worries, thank you.

Another suggestion: it should have a column to contain a link to the report thread. This will be very useful for moderators when reviewing the list of reported post. I think that it could be another column or instead of that just add a link at the right of the thread title.

On a side note, all reports are created by a unique username defined in the vBulletin Options. Is there any way to bypass this config? I mean, any way to display the real username of the reporter instead of the username defined in the vBulletin Options?

Finally, I think that a feature to enable/disable reported post list access permisions base on usergroup should be very useful also.

Thank you,
Jonathan

Paul M 02-04-2009 02:20 PM

There is already a link to the reported post ;

Quote:

Staff can click on the reporter to be taken directly to the report thread.
As for the reporter - you must have set this up in your vb options, you dont have to have a specific user, just leave the "Post Reporting User" option blank.

Oh sorry, my mistake.

Yes I know but my suggestion is to add an option to bypass this config and display the username of the original reporter.

Finally, I think that a feature to enable/disable access to the misc.php?do=reported based on usergroups should be very useful also. Maybe someone want to make this information accesible only for staff.

Thank you,
Jonathan

Edited:

Quick question: when I click on the moderator name a new window is open with the reported post information. At the bottom line there is a 'Comment: No Reply Yet' text. What is the purpose of this text?

I dont see the point, if you want the original reporter, turn off the fixed user in the existing vb options.

This was designed to be accessible to everyone, so I dont think I'll be adding that anytime soon, if at all.

This is answered in the main post (staff comment).

Quote:

Great Mod, but there is a problem.

My Moderators and Supermoderators are in primary group "Registered Users" and secondary "Moderators" and "Super". And the hack doesn't recognise they as staff members, even if configured in the hack options.

How can i fix this? I don't want to move them to other primary group than "Registered.."..

Paul M 02-09-2009 04:35 PM

Sorry, it only checks primary groups.

Paul M 02-10-2009 11:28 AM

Yes, I dont see why not.

Edit: Actually, there might be an issue with this, I need to look more closely.

Paul M 02-10-2009 07:01 PM

There is no specific 3.7 release - but if you edit the product xml to allow 3.7.0 instead of 3.8.0 it should all work ok.

kidthanh86 02-10-2009 07:41 PM

I make same in the guild and i reported some topic and don't have everting in http://azs.cc/misc.php?do=reported

Actually, Im not so sure now, I seem to remember I had to make a few changes from 3.7 to 3.8, so it may not be compatible with 3.7
