1 Attachment(s)
Info:
This will by default remind zero-posters (x days after registration) to start posting soon, but hack is flexible and you can use it for some other important alerting of inactive members. Required post count is also changeable. See screenshots to understand this all better. Installation: 1. OPTIONAL (for very customized styles): If message don't appear then add "$cyb_att_zeroposters" to the very end in "navbar" template. To set options: Go to: AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Cyb - Attention Zero-Posters Versions: v1.0 - May 26. 2006. -First Release v1.1 - Aug 04. 2006. -Release of this hack for vB v3.6 v1.2 - Nov 04. 2006. -Added option to delay with showing message to user (show it x days after registration if user post count is still "0") -Added option to affect more members, regarding post count -Added ability to disable message bar linking (if you just want to show message to user and not to ask for making new thread) -Improved look (used CSS colors for hover effect on message bar, added info icon, message bar moved below navbar) -Improved codes for better compatibility with different browsers (fully valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional) -Added Product Version Checking v1.3 - Nov 11. 2006. -Added option to disable automatic placement of message in navigation bar v1.4 - Jul 28. 2007. -Fixed bug where text color is not affected by style settings -Cursor now changes to hand style on mouseover if message bar is linked and to default style if not Click Install if you like this hack. |
this one is very useful. thx :)
|
Just what the doctor ordered :) Some grammer mistakes in the text but hey :)
|
English is not my main language, sorry. :-)
What should be corrected? |
I got the same thing to work by using the built-in Notices feature.
Basically if someone hasn't posted before, or hasn't posted in a certain amount of time, it displays a notice under the navbar. What advantage does this mod have over the vBulletin notices system? Keeping in mind that the vBulletin notices fully support HTML and CSS code. |

That's a very valid point. Hmmm...eight days with no reply from coder.:erm: |

This can be done with stock notices, no need for a mod. I do it on my site. Attached is a 0 post notice.
|
This was available before Notices I think. It's maybe time to retire it...
|
I find it very useful even if there is the Notices feature in VB.
It won't clash with other Notices on the same page and it can do more like giving the exact number of days since a specific user's registration. Thanks! |
cool thanks
|
Awesome, love youre mods Cyb!!
The clicking on the message for introduction isnt working, I cant find where to edit this to a forumID. Thx m8! EDIT.. im blind.. sorry found it.. im sorry :) |
Don't take this the wrong way, but I really do not believe this will make a forum more active... If I see this message at some forum I get the feeling they want to push me in doing something I don't want to do. I also get the feeling the administrator is desperate and amateuristic. Cyb makes a lot of great hacks, but I can't say I agree with this one. No offence!

thanks alot

Hi Cyb,
a question before install this great mod: Is possible to send automatic email to the zero post user to remind them ? Or only add a forumhome block? Thanks |
Nice And Simple
|
Hi Cyb,
why i see the message block over the bars and not down like your screenshoots? http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/9901/testjvn.jpg If i disable the showing, can i add the optional code at the very bottom of the navbar template to fix it? Last question is: How can i do for add "absolute" clickable navabar link? If i add the link to the "presentation Area" for eg newthread.php?do=newthread&f=8 and i try to click from the forum homepage (vbadvanced that is in another different folder , not in "forums" folder), a not found page is showed. thanks |
Nice hack but it does not block the user to post anywhere else than the required forum we would like them to present themselves before starting posting somewhere else.
Is there a way to achieve this or another hack to use. Please, don't tell me to use the notice system... |
Very Nice
Thanks |
Definitely need this to be ported for vb4 :D
|
thank you
|
I think that this Mod should be converted to Vb4 .
It was a very popular Mod sure it will be the same on VB4 |
The mod needs to notify the inactive users by email, having a notice really doesn't work if they don't login does it. I agree the same can be done with the Notice system in vBulletin I use it that way already myself. But I have people that are inactive, 0 posts haven't returned from registration, don't know if they are having problems logging in, not really interested or bogus registration to begin with. Inactive members are moved to a new usergroup and would like somehow to activate a cron job email out to find out who is having problems, who no longer want to be members, and bounced emails back. Otherwise have to do it manually through AdminCP email users system, which defeats the purpose of automation which should be an essential part of vBulletin anyway, hence the cron job system they have in place for other things.
