Any husky owners?

Have never thought to ask in here, but does anyone else here keep huskies, or am I the only one?

I have 2 myself both male and me and my wife are running a husky forum. Amazing how your home life can meet your internet life lol

Here's Chucky with her puppies, last February :)
Now she's a grandma...

Parents used to breed Huskies when I was growing up. At one point we had 21 adult dogs and 16 puppies. Don't have one now because my wife doesn't like them. I guess one of her step-fathers while growing up had one that wasn't well behaved so its a "bad breed".

Of course she wants rodent dogs like a Chihuahua or a Beagle. I'd rather have a big dog. Currently we have a Lab Mix that is about 100 lbs.

... Wayne's parents were breeding Huskies when he came to life... strangely, i have a vision... ROFL

Actually they didn't own a dog until I was 3 or 4.

Big dogs freak me out -- cause I'm always sitting down and never realize they come up beside me and when I look over there's a face right next to mine. I jump every time. But I really really want a Golden Retriever, but my parents won't get a dog. And my aunt has a Yellow Lab (I think it is pure, not 100% sure) that is huge. It's head is about twice my size... It's paws are huge... They always joke it's father was a small pony and mother was a lab... :D

Hi Sonice
So strange that you would post his today as I'm looking to purchase a husky for my daughter but not until we move north, into a cooler climate. My daughgter has had her heart set on a Husky for a few years now and I've finally caved and said ok. :)

Magna. What a sweet picture. Love it. Momma looks very happy and content, probably a bit tired too:)

Yeah, three puppies were quite a challenge, very exhausting.
I live in Romania and it's like 40 degrees Celsius in the summer here and -30 in the winter.
Though i had her take baths twice a day, they're pretty strong :D
But indeed, they are cold resistant.

Unless you live in the desert, you may buy yourself a husky... though it'll need a "special treatment" like daily baths in the summer and lots of hydrating food.

My angel loves water. When i took her in the park, she'd be jumping in the water like Golden Retrievers (another breed that i love, but wouldn't trade :p).

Here's another picture of her.

Oh so sweet! My daughter loved that picture. What a beautiful dog. Right now I live in pretty hot tropical weather so we're gonna wait a few months until we're in a cooler climate as I think a husky would be misearable with this heat 24/7 365. Any hip displasia with these dogs?

I'm glad to hear that she did :)
No problems with her so far, except for the exhausting birth.

That's a dog?
I thought it was a bear :erm:

TimberFloorAu 01-10-2009 10:11 PM

They are called Bears. Many owners use the bear as a prefix. Used primarily as water rescue dogs, cos of their webbed feet

What a great dog!

Huskies are one of the few dogs I'd consider having. They are just gorgeous. Mind you, I'll never forget; when I was a lot younger a friend of mine had a husky. He lived next to a field and one day the husky lept the fence, and I kid you not, killed a sheep and started eating it. It was the most adorable dog as well. Never bit anyone or threatened too. Loved everyone including kids. They had to have it put down.

Huskies are indeed an inoffensive breed. They don't bite at all.

Kids and even adults here almost s... their pants when they see Chucky running towards them with quite some speed and then suddenly stops running to start sniffing :D

It's pretty funny to see their expression.

And even funnier to see mine when i'm asked "Does it bite?" :D
