Work with or without music
 

Do you "need" to listen to music when your working, or are you one of those, who can't concentrate if there's a music in background?

I "need" it. On work i'm not allowed to hear to music and i can see a big difference when working at home while listening to music

I can concentrate better. It drowns out all OTHER noises (other than important ones. Obviously parents are blocked out, lol). But if I get to a job in the field that I want that is well, completely against music of any sort, I might be screwed.

For me, when I'm working on a multi million dollar project and I have to concentrate more, I need total quiet. If it's just day to day stuff, than I listen to music, usual quiet loud though. Although a few times I should have been able to hear a few things and take action. My staff is about 50/50, some listen a lot some need total concentration. We were just talking about this the other day. I've noticed that anything thing to do with a large amount of money and I need total quiet.

Usually have the news on in the background. No need for music. Only time there is music on is if my wife is home and puts it on.

I like to work with music on, or the news on media player in the 2nd screen

I don't need music, it all depends on my mood..but normally I do have music playing softly in the background while I work.

I work so much better with loud music...
And i don't get bored...
I've got these cheap but very good headphones that i bought for $10... they're awesome. When at max volume, i can't hear my girl screaming at me... perfect :D

This is a good way to stop her from yelling. Eventually she'll just start packing.

I mean, it's not like i'm not listening... but she likes to be a bit goofy when it's just me and her and jump around and scream :)

Sometimes i join her... sometimes i try to ignore her, if i'm busy or tired.

When i was office based we had some background music, Now i run and program 4 CNC Machines on the shop floor, the noise dosn't make it viable to have a Radio, so yeah i miss it ;)

I can live without it, but if the option is there, I'll comfort my ears with some headphones. White noise or binaural tones (see: iPhone app, MindWave) also help keep me concentrated on the task at hand.

I actually learn the lyrics to songs when music is playing and I'm working, even if I'm not paying attention to the music itself. :D

But generally it depends on my mood.

I don't work without music. :)

I listen to music pretty much all day at work, I don't have to but i like to.

Very rarely do I have music on while working - the only time i normally have it on is if relaxing, or when driving.

It's the only time I listen to music is while I'm working at the computer. Other times I'll have bbc news 24 running in the background.

i need to be listening to some type of music to think straight!

I've developed an obsession for Pandora while on the computer.

I haven't opened iTunes in days...

I have been using Pandora a lot lately as well. A lot easier than having to worry about creating my own playlists to fit a particular mood. Just pick an appropriate group and you have hours of music.

music when im driving - but not to loud so everyone around me can hear it.
Hate people who have the window down and their crappie music blaring full blast.

Music when i'm driving as well, but just enough so i can hear the engine and if i get a flat tire :p
