Is it possible to make it so that if a user is under 13, they must enter their parents eMail and their parents must click a link to activate their account?
|
Umm..tell them to..? Or make it a rule. Be hard to monitor though.
|
No, like, make it mandotory.

IDK.. On your site, how do you know if someone is lying about their age?

No one under 13 is allowed. If they are under 13, then they have their parents birthday and email. As most of them members here on members on other sites I go, we can usually tell. We dont have a huge issue with people lying about their age. With our near 300 members, we only had like..2 or 3 that lied. |
I think we're straying away from the OP's question. :)
You would need a modification to implement a new set of email fields. |
Okay, thanks so much! And for answering the question

It doesn't matter if they lie - as long as you had reasonable steps for a parent to confirm, you are protected. At least that's how I see/remember it. (IANAL) The easiest way would be to just deny anyone under 13 to register. Unless you are a forum discussing a topic that children like (i.e. cartoons or something), I don't see a big issue with just denying under 13s.
