Looking for some comments on the above link. Forums have been running for just under a year and starting to get busy. Main interest for me is converting guests to active members. Any additional suggestions are welcome on how I can achieve this.

what I did was create a notice for members with 0 posts to either start posting or risk having their account pruned/deleted. Sure enough, posting has picked up. But relay in the notice that spamming will not be tolerated otherwise you'll get one word replies in the way of "thanks" "nice work" responses.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. They are fine for those already registered. I have between 200 and 400 guests online at any one time and want to make them members.

I really love your custom theme and the layout of your forums.

So exactly how long has the site been up? Because I never thought of a forum going up before teh game was released lol.

Im going to join because I will be getting this game for xmas.

Forum started Jan this year. Game launched Nov this year. We already had a strong net presence when people started getting the game and wanting to find a community around it.

Also what mod is that your using for the welcome back thing under the add banner, I have been looking for that for days.

I agree, with regards to the theme, it's a nice looking theme. I just never posted in my previous response which i'll do now. The green tcats are what really sets this style off. :up:

I think my opinion is of little value here but I give it an astounding 8 of 10. Now it has no appeal to me of anykind and looks like a kiddy gaming site but a good one.

I really dig the layout, AzH. I like the way the game was so heavily involved with the overall layout and atmosphere around your forums. And hey, a simple and understandable title? Easy. If I was a Left 4 Dead player, your forums would be my first place to go for a community. I think that speaks wonders and I give it a hefty 9/10.

I do have to respectively disagree here. Zombies don't exactly come off as "kiddy" to me though.

really nice style and suits your board fine.
Only downside i have is that your board is very limited - once people get fed up with the game they move on to something else.
Ive beat the single player game and as good as it was i would`nt consider joining a forum just for one game.

Love the game, love the site. Great job!

@Lasto: ever hear of counter strike? L4D will be around forever... Try the Verses mode some time.

Thanks for the commentary guys, both good and contructive. lasto you have a good point about limitations, but those are the dangers of the niche board. I put my faith in Valve (and DLC and SDK) .

I was never a big fan of counterstrike - RTCW ruled the day as far as im concerned and was one of the best free games available to play Multiplayer.
(Enemy Terroritory was given away free)

Valve certainly do make some good games and ive proberly beaten just about all of them.
Like i say Excellant site and goes to show a lot of work and throught went into it.

Excellent forum mate I`m gonna join it! One thing the annoucements are at thebottom how do we know whats knew if its not ready to catch our attention. I only noticed it when i scrolled all the way down. Besides that good work

Community announcements are at the bottom. Game announcement right at the top. Just a tip I picked up. People you want to attract to a niche forum are people interested in the niche, not people interested ina community, if you get my meaning. Anything majorly important I can throw on a notice or global announcement.
