Excellent Idea Installed Thank You :)

Lynne 12-21-2008 03:08 PM

Nice. Thanks!

cygy2k 12-21-2008 05:40 PM

Not working for me. I installed on 3.8RC2 and no notice appears using either Firefox 3.0.5 or IE 7.

Lynne 12-21-2008 05:55 PM

Did you send yourself a PM to activate it?

cygy2k 12-21-2008 05:59 PM

I had somebody else. I realized that I hadn't been using the popup message on PM - just using the box in the upper right to keep track of them so I activated that but it was after I had already received the message but it's still unread.

Does the notice stay showing up until you read the message or does it only show up once?

cygy2k 12-21-2008 06:01 PM

Update - I got it to work.

Is there a way to make it stay showing up on page loads until the message is no longer read?

Same here. How did you get it to work?

Not without adding additional queries and the like. This modification utilises the information from the already done queries for new PMs.

You must have "Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up" enabled in your User CP.

Of course I have that.
It didn't even show up in the default style. Which template this affects?

Dismounted 12-23-2008 02:18 AM

This modification hooks into the default notices feature. It does not modify any templates. Create a notice and test of you can see it.

cygy2k 12-24-2008 03:00 PM

Are there any plans to make this able to stay until PMs are read? Can it be modified to use the PM notification indicator instead of the pop up to achieve that goal?

Sorry, just trying to help maximize the usefulness of the mod.

Still the same reply as in post #11. The problem is that notifications only fetch the number, and not any other data. I may implement this in the future.

Can the text be phrased so that this can be used on multi language systems?

It is phrased. ;) (Search for the phrase and you will see.) You can add translations, however, you must do this all through the phrase manager, and not through the "vBulletin Options" page.

Danial_Faster 01-09-2009 02:28 PM

Thank you

Danial_Faster 01-09-2009 02:37 PM

I'm install but don't show box in difault style!

Dismounted 01-11-2009 04:25 AM

If your navbar is customised, revert it. (You will lose any changes made to the template.)

What change template? wich?

Nadavy 01-11-2009 04:36 AM

Do the users have the option of keeping it as PM or changing it to notice, or is it changed to notice regardless?

The new PM notification (the pop-up you get when you have a new PM) will be changed to a notice for every user.

dekaybrown 03-09-2009 11:26 PM

Thank you!

PHILIPS-08 03-09-2009 11:27 PM

Thanx for this mate good idea

WikidMindz 03-24-2009 05:27 AM

i cant get it to work for me at all even sent a test pm to myself and nothin

Dismounted 03-25-2009 08:54 AM

You must have "Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up" enabled in your User CP. Also, your style must have the notices code in there (test this by creating a dummy notice).

Sofia 04-11-2009 04:21 PM

No work for me. I've the default style, so no modification and I have "Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up" enabled

Dismounted 04-12-2009 04:18 AM

How are you sending a PM? Are you sending it to yourself?

Mutt 04-15-2009 01:20 AM

Hello Dismounted. No, a member send me a mp.

cory_booth 04-15-2009 12:41 PM

I get this displayed in the Control Panel as a USER NOTICE.
Would be better if it displayed as a SITE NOTICE

That's definitely weird - do any "normal" notices you create show?

Huh? Notices are notices - they get displayed wherever you happen to "be" at a point in time.

AzH 04-16-2009 02:43 PM

Good idea. Installed. (and working)

smsoom 04-16-2009 03:04 PM

nomoreturn 04-22-2009 07:41 AM

installed but not working on 3.8.2

MarkFoster 05-31-2009 04:43 AM

Just installed it and it doesn't work. It got installed. The latest version. For my latest vBulletin version.

Everything looks fine but the notice isn't appearing.

Dismounted 06-01-2009 05:28 AM

  1. Do you have "Show pop-up on new PM" in User CP enabled?
  2. Do your normal notices show up correctly?

mokujin 06-30-2009 08:53 PM

Great idea, I just seen it in Invision Board.
Installed, thanks Dismounted
