I assume that if the guest does not register, then the post is still there?
Please consider to keep the post invisible for members until the member registers.

If the member registers, then is the post connected to the member's account?

Magnumutz 12-19-2008 05:57 PM

That might be a bit difficult Alfa.
However, i like the mod.
Good job FRDS.

I wouldn't even now where to begin with that. I have my forum set to moderate the post automatically to prevent spam, then after I verify it isn't spam i just manually approve it.

If the member registers, after he makes the post it won't be connected to his account, unless he used the same username in to make the post as he register with.

I'm not sure if this is a practical way to go about it, or even if it's possible, but could you hold the "Guest" post in the registration page process?
So the "Guest" would type in their thread/post and hit the submit button and be taken to a page that says "hello, would you like to register on XYZ forum or just make this post?"
If they decide to register they fill in the registration form and their post is tied to the username they select immediately, still following the usual post moderation and user moderation guidelines.
If they opt not to register you could either have an option that lets them post it as a Guest or even disallows Guest posts entirely, just to lure people in... :)

Just a thought, like I said I have no idea if that's practical or not. :)

This would be perfect! I can't use this mod as it stands right now but it sure looks promising.

if the guest does not register then the post stays in moderation for you to approve or delete.

Should look like this:

* Guest can use the Editor

* If they want to reply or open a new Thread they have additionally Fields to to complete registration and saving of their Post (Username, Mailadress .....)

* Postings go to moderation Queue till User has activate his Account

We're working an enhanced version of this mod. It'll be released in the next few days. More information will be posted to here soon!

It would be nice if the post was held in some sort of temporary location, and was not posted until a successful registration was made. Upon registration, the post is then posted and attached to their user name/id.

Hopefully that is the direction of this addon. I have tagged this and will keep an eye on it :)

May I make a suggestion.

Lets say a guest is on forum id 5 , and they click new post or new thread, could this hack be configured that it would actually, post the post/thread into a new forum id?
