The "Pea" & "Bean" Thread

Do you like peas? what are you favourite kind of peas? what about peas that you hate, or maybe genetically enhanced peas? This thread intends to welcome debates and our love for the green pea that you either love or hate.

i prefer french beans :D

Shelley_c 12-16-2008 12:18 PM

I never had the chance to taste french beans. That said, I altered the title to include bean talk.

Beans

Lynne 12-16-2008 01:53 PM

I love green beans. I like lima beans but only if they are fresh off the vines - the canned ones are just plain nasty and the frozen ones are blah. Baby peas are good too.

Thinking green today, Shelley?

KW802 12-16-2008 01:54 PM

I prefer my peas in the form of soup with some ham. :D

Only peas that I like are sugar or snow peas. You can eat them right in the pod and they are great in salads or stir fry. Shelled peas are okay and I'll eat them. However they are not something I would choose as a side dish and most of my meals are vegetarian so variety is a key sticking point.

With beans, we eat all sorts in a variety of ways. Lentils, Black, Cranberry Beans, Kidney, Pinto, Refried and Green beens are all used throughout the year.

Judging by marcos response here lynne if you have a personal question directly towards me please use the pm system and I'll happily respond.

Anyway, I not that keen on garden peas, maybe the saturated green colour is a sign that the goodness of the pea is that great.

Not really, that post is taken out of context.

I'm not a fan of peas OR beans.

You could, after letting them soak for a while, but I would not advise it after you find out what it is inside of the bean that makes them jump. ;)

GSeybold 12-17-2008 02:31 AM

Good god! Thanks for the new diet plan. I think I won't be able to eat for a month now. LOL

I'd rather eat that bug than the bean. As long as i can remember, I've loathed the taste of baked beans and many other variety's that have come to pass.

Anyway, the beans my parents used to buy never screamed like these annoying orange head bean heads.

Baked beans are a local favorite around here; there is a family recipe for a 5-bean mix that is a cross between "baked beans" and chili that is great for the colder months.

Well, that is certainly the most random thing I have seen today.

deezelpope 12-19-2008 11:16 PM

My grandparents brought me back some Mexican jumping beans when I was a child...kept them in a dresser drawer...ended up with a bunch of moths.:erm:

I can make really good bean & ham soup, and a mean chili with six different beans...too bad my husband hates beans.:(
