Members who are chatting in Flashchat 5 or 6
This modification is no longer available or supported. Note: I no longer use Flashchat, and development and support of it at Tufat appears to have died in 2010. This is a simple display of who is currently chatting in FlashChat - on the forum homepage display. Note: This is compatible with Flashchat 5.0.x only, it will not work with Flashchat 4. * Flashchat 5 is no longer available - this should work with Flashchat 6, but this is not a supported option * The main features are ; 1. It displays the list on Forum Home with the "Users online" display. 2. The list view is collapsable, so you see just the number. 3. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc are displayed correctly (based on the display usergroup) 4. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the room they are chatting in and their status (away etc). 5. If the chat is empty, a simple "no one is chatting" message is displayed. 6. The option to record and display the Most Ever chatters can be enabled. 7. The ability to turn it on/off is in the ACP Options. 8. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option (include or exclude groups). 9. The location of the Flashchat folder is an ACP option (Options are located in vBulletin Options > Who Is Using Flashchat). Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager. Further Notes: This hack cannot display any bots in the chat, due to the strange way that Flashchat stores this information. I have no connection with the Flashchat product - if you have questions about Flashchat functionality then their forums are located here. Template Hook Please note that this modification uses the following template hook in the FORUMHOME template ; forumhome_wgo_pos2 This must be present in any customised template/style you are using, otherwise this modification will not display. History: v3.8.001 : First release for vb 3.8.x v3.8.002 : Fix Most Ever Display Bug. |
I tried this and showed an error message on my forum page.
|
not working for me at all. Doesn't show up! I was working in 3.7.4 pl1 but after upgrading the site to 3.8.0 rc1 and reinstalling, it doesn't show up.
|
ok I found out that my usergroup options were all set to no for displaying on homepage forum home etc.. I checked ALL to yes and it still doesn't show up!!
Calling Paul!!! lol |
just to be clear also. I have these installed
Flashchat 5.0.9 Flashchat 5 Integration 3.7.009 (paul) Members who are using Flashchat 5 3.8.002 (paul) Then installed Flashchat v5: Who is chatting (Add On) 3.8.004 (mosh) |
Are you using a customised forumhome template ?
|
yes, but again it was working before the most recent upgrade to 3.8.0. All I want it to do is show on the forumhome like it did before the upgrade yesterday.
|
You are missing the template hook that this requires, you must either revert the forumhome template, or add the hook to it.
|
what is the hook I can add and where should I put it? down by the who's active/online and the bottom?
|
anyone??? template hook code???
|
I reverted my forumhome template after saving the code first and then readded my mods to it and everything is fine now.
|
Adding the template hook would be a lot easier for me. What is the hook for this? I know where it should go, but not what it should be.
EDIT: Nevermind, there are 5 hooks, and comparing the default style with my custom one they weren't hard to find. |
Is there a way to get show who is chatting for vB 3.8 and FlashChat 4.7.12?
|
No, there is currently no 3.8 version for FC4.
You could install the 3.7 version and I *think* it will work - but you will have to edit the xml to allow it to install on 3.8 |
3.6 ?
This is for 3.8 |
Is there any way of getting this to display on a page other than the forum home?
|
Display what exactly ?
|
List of members who are chatting, I must confess though I get slightly confused with the who is chatting and members using flashchat modifications, sorry.
I have a self contained area where people rarely go back to the forum home page but would want to know who is chatting. |
Sorry, the list is only built on the index (Forumhome) page.

This may be a bit offtopic, but is there a way to display partly of the chat room at the bottom of the forum? So they can chat from there right away with auto-login on their username?
|
I have a problem, I installed but my flash chat is in/chat/livechat all i get is errors saying it cannot find files etc any help appreciated
|
Sorry, Flashchat+vbulletin (and this mod) are only supported if F/C is installed in the chat folder - not any other name, or sub folder.

Hi Paul, previously you'd given some instructions on how to place the members currently using flashchat info at the top of the forumhome page under the navbar. Would you mind doing that with this version as well? I've played around with it but I keep just getting the text without the box and it's all out of order. Having the the feature at the top, under the navbar, really helps bring more traffic into chat. Thanks. |

It seems to remove the display at the bottom though. No way to have both I guess? Anyway, is there any way for the text Members currently using Flashchat: 0 to appear in the same font/size as the Currently Active Users: 1 (1 members and 0 guests) field? The box seems to have a larger font now, same as the What's Going On? text. I appreciate it. |

root/forum root/chat Is that fine? Or does chat have to be installed in the forum folder? |
It must be in the forum.
i.e. root/forum/chat |
As I was uploading the XML for this mod (days after installing the flashchat and integration mod) the page refreshed and the following error message appeared:
Database error in vBulletin 3.8.2: Invalid SQL: SELECT COUNT(*) AS newposts FROM post WHERE dateline >= 06:47 PM, 05-29-2009 AND visible = 1; MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ':47 PM, 05-29-2009 AND visible = 1' at line 1 Error Number : 1064 Classname : vB_Database MySQL Version : 5.0.51b-community-nt I don't really know what to do to fix this and I've been googling solutions for a couple days with no fix in sight. The board doesn't come up, members can't view the page, I can access the admin cp however. HELP please! |
There is nothing I can tell you - that query is not part of this modification.
|
Is there any way to make this mod NOT display usergroups that are set to Spy Mode? Kinda blows the cover if they can see that you're in the chatroom and then join and can't see you.
|
No, there is no such facility.
|
Thanx Paul for this Add On, works well.
I've few questions: 1) the usergroups moderators and admin are invisible on our board and have their own nonpublic chatroom. So they are invisible on FlashChat aswell. But in the wic-display they appear as visible chatusers. Can the script for modifation this issue be found in the vB 'active user' template? So they will not be displayed in wic. Somewhat like the previous question about the spy-usergroup, probably it will work for this group asswell. 2) The fc5 active users display shows the rooms and number of users. I miss this in wic. i.e. in: /forum/chat/info.php . Is it possible to show the rooms in the vB wic display? |
1.
How to change path to a small gif, it points to "whos_online.gif" and if that is changed all other statistics have same one which is not that good :( ? 2.Any chance to place this mod within VBA module for my homepage? Thanks ps Placed same question at Mosh "who is chatting addon" thread will notify in other thread if I got answer here, and vice versa ---------- Post added at 14.08.2009 ---------- Previous post was at 13.08.2009 ---------- I was thinking that Paul is quickest in these waters, but Mosh this time was... :D My questions answered here |
Guys,
I have installed this addon to my VB 3.8 and it is basically working. However it won't display the number of active chatters correct. The code in the phrases is Members currently using Flashchat: {1} but the result shown on my website is Members currently using Flashchat: %1$s 0 any hints? |
Installed and everything seems to be working fine but its showing the wrong date
The most chatters online in one day was 0, 01-01-1970. No one is currently using the chat. |
The date will not update until someone logs in.

Thanks i was a great plugin indeed |
Will there be a way to show "who's chatting" for a default installation of flashchat?
For example: I'd installed FlashChat as standalone "default CMS", because for some reasons board members and external Users should be able to use the chat. This installation uses its own fc-tables (but in same database of the vb-SQL) and the fc-folder is located in server root, NOT in forum root. So we have two user tables: fcusers und vbusers and two folders: chat and forum Now I need a display on forumhome to show users they are in currently the chat. Is this possible to realize and if yes, how to? Any help would be appreciated. |
